Not impressed ...

... by the snowboard action at X Games this year.

both slopestyle and halfpipe snowboard riding seemed unexciting.

i thought skier pipe action, especially, was way, way gnarlier.

agree ... disagree??????

I strongly agree. Skiers every year are going bigger and bigger in the pipe, snowboarding hasn't changed just more hucked spins. And skiers were doing way more tech stuff on rails too, it was so sick. The ONE thing that snowboarding did do better is they spin backside and frontside (aka left and right) ALOT and not many skiers were doing left 9 to right 9. But of course andreas did right 10 to switch left 9 and he got like a 82.

WTF it seemed like almost every snowboarder fucking fell on the jumps. they all wiped out except a few, wats the deal. skiiers dont fall nearly that much in professional competitions

yea, watch Wiigs (slopestyle gold) and Fishers (halfpipe gold) run again, they are sick as fuck. Danny davis should have gotten a podium spot too. Danny kass as well was sick as fuck. those guys doing presses on the rals was ill

I think boarders were throwing down

Didn't see the slope or pipe, but that best trick shit that was after the skier slope was weaaaak.

They all put their hands don on landings pretty much, and they were hucked and not all the stylish.

couldnt agree more. especially regarding the pipe- i thought skier pipe was SOOO much more impressive than snowboarding. with snowboarding, i just felt like i had seen it all before. skier half pipe blew me away with its creativity and innovation. i found the snowboarding action to be rather dull.

go to expn.com and watch Danny Davis's qualifying run in that little window wit h the videos. he got 2nd in qualifying, he should have gotten first in my opinion.

Umm you have 60 posts in a day about nothing so shut it

But agreed, Boarding amplitude is pretty weak, Fisher's run was sick, but still like 10 feet out when skiers are going 20

Agree.

I think snowboarding is pretty cool and all. And it looks fun as fuck in powder. But, to me (a non-snowboarder), all their tricks look the same: I can't tell the difference between frontside and backside, the grabs all look alike, and 95% of their tricks are basic spins. I'm not saying it's not hard or impressive, because I'm sure it is. It just all kinda looks the same to me.

Andreas Wiig's winning slopestyle run was the best run out of snowboarding or skiing. He stomped the piss out of every spin. And so what if he didn't spin on to rails maybe he didn't want to look like a ballerina like Sammy. Go back and have a look at Mandreas' backside rodeo 9 and his frontside 10. They were both so smooth and he landed so clean.
