So i have no idea what a good camera is but i want to get one to film. My friend has a Panasonic HDC-SD10 and i have seen videos he has uploaded with it and they seem like really good quality you can view them on youtube in "1080p" . Does anyone know anything about this camera? If you do how well do you think it will fair in a winter environment and with follows and such? Or should i just get an HD go pro instead?

if you really just care about decent hd quality and just filming your buddies skiing, i would suggest the go pro HD, it can create a really sweet quality picture and is super versatile with all the different mounts etc.
and just as a hint, youtube butchers HD footage. go Vimeo.

thanks for the reply, i honestly don't know much about the go pro, can u zoom and such on it, because i am also looking for a camera which i can have control over the type of shot so i can at least get a little artsy with me "edits" . And for some reason as far as stationary shots go i don't get that feeling with the go pro but again i really know nothing about it? Also thanks for the good response +k

i don't own one, but from the best of my knowledge it does not possess zoom. If you are looking to go more artsy and get those zoom shots, you are probably going to want to look at other cameras. From what i hear the canon hv20/30/40 series is excellent, but it will run you around 500-800ish, which might be a bit out of your budget. Other than that I don't know very much on the HD cameras, I film oldschool on a DVC 30.
