So this dude Alexander Wengshoel ate his own hip for an art project. After reading an interview on Vice I thought it was kinda cool. Some people think it counts as cannibalism, but when he said it was like a mother eating her own placenta after giving birth I agreed with him and didn't think of it in that way. Thoughts?

He had it replaced in an operation, kind of dissapointing.

people don't consider eating their placenta art, so I don't see how this is art. guy is whack and just wants attention. he'd probably shoot somebody and call that art too.
 
People might not think it's art right now but Vincent van Gogh cut off his own ear and gave it to someone. Artists have pretty much always tried to one up each other. It's like a competition everyone knows they're in and they know they're in it but no one discusses it.
 
That's actually pretty interesting, especially when he decide to "fuck it" and eat his flesh. Odd.

Not saying any of this is justifiable. The guy is obviously off his meds. I just find it strange what people consider art now a days. I watched a documentary on a guy who paints grey paintings(Can't remember what it was called it was on Netflix last year. It was about Gerhard Richter I think. Basically all he does is put a bunch of colours on a canvas in odd patterns then paints over everything with layers of grey paint. The craziest part was how much people would pay for the guys paintings.

It´s not so sure that he really ate his flesh. Because when you do an operation like this, the flesh is not taken out with the hip. besides you are not allowed to take meat from operations home here in norway.
