anyone been to sierra yet this year. I can't decide wether to take a short raod trip with a few friends to sierra for the weekend or stay here and hit up northstar both days. what do ya think? we got a free place to stay but I don't think sierra is worth the drive.

a conversation between two skiers:

skier 1 ' have you seen those new skis with the tips in the front and back yet'

skier 2 'no but I heard about those things'

Skier 1 ' yeah I don't see why they would want tips in the back...maybe they are try'n to copy those stupid snowboarders or something like that'

skier 2 'Yeah seems like kind of a stupid idea.'

sierra is definetly fine for a day. I would drive up there after school and ski for 3hrs last year it was tite. If you got a place in northstar definetly go there, they have a better park. Sierra's park was fun last year, but nothing specail.

uhh...take a road trip across the lake and hit up Squaw, and then Mammoth.

Hey I would definitely hit Northstar up both days. I have been to Sierra and personally I don't like what I saw. It is a pretty long drive from Northshore and the park is small. The only thing I like about it is the Superpipe which is cut very nicely but has a tree you have to go at the start on the right wall. Btw Northstar was just voted #10 globally in Freeskier for the best park. Late

I'd choose squaw or alpine, both are real resorts, Northstar and sierra are like skiing on the east coast, and both their parks will suck this early in the season. Alpine has some sick rails, and a table and a hip allready.

When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.(think about it)

'My knee hurts' (Jeff Merat after grinding a lunch table for an hour instead of sitting in the ski patrol shack for his torm mcl and acl which he got earlier that day.)

'I'm not asking for any help, just mabe for you to get off your ass.'(my dad)

dude northstar! is sierra even open this weekend... ill be at northstar both days probally, did you see the pics on the website, they aready started shaping the 1/2 pipe! its ganna be crowed though...

Northstar plans to have 10 jibs and 2 jumps up this weekend. I doubt it will be that crowded the first weekend it is open though. Also the superpipe (the one in the pics) won't be up for a few more weeks. What you see there is 30 inches of snow covering a 10-12ft. tall pile of dirt (which is the base of the walls of the pipe). That is how they can get a superpipe up so early in the season.

To respond to your advice. I live in reno and I would love to go to mammoth but it's 3 hours away and not practical. All I really wanted to know is if sierra is as good as northstar because I have a place to stay there for free for a few days or I could just stay here where I live and go to northstar.
