Nor'Easter + Hurricane = Perfect East Coast Storm.

Well as it stands now, you shouldn't be.

It MIGHT drop snow, but it'll bring inches and inches of rain and hurricane winds, which will FUCK SHIT UP. We could be talking something far more destructive than Irene, because it has the potential to flood AND take out power with heavy winds, ice and snow.

So yeah, I'm certainly going to be ready for the snow part with my touring gear should that pan out, but you're kidding yourself if you think this is just going to be a cool snowstorm and shit's gonna be fine. I'd be getting my shit together if I were you. You may be without power andheat for several days depending on how things turn out.

Living on the coast FTW

I was talking about the "perfect storm" with my dad a few days ago who experienced it, now I might be getting my own dose of it. Hopefully it pounds the mountains and not us here on the ocean

hunh?

A POWERHOUSE CAPABLE OF WHIPPING THE ATLANTIC INTO A FRENZY AND CHURNING UP DANGEROUS TIDES. OF PARTICULAR NOTE IS THE COINCIDENCE OF THE FULL MOON ON SUNDAY, OFTEN A SIGNIFICANT FACTOR IN HISTORICAL EVENTS.”

well full moons = higher tides/larger spread. Damn, that's actually really concerning that there's a full moon + potentially huge storm for us on the coast

Yes, this. Plus a massive increase of runoff added to all that water could spell trouble for the coast.

It's pretty much every factor ever involved, and the potential to add up to a pretty bad situation is looking pretty strong. Fuckin' pissed my chainsaw is in VT, I have a feeling I might need it soon.

I'm enjoying nerding out to what is developing. That said, I am not too thrilled about the possible outcomes and there is legitimate reason to be somewhat aware of what could happen. The potential exists for a very damaging and serious storm.

And for those interested, the most recent GFS run is basically taking Sandy out off the coast and then hooking her due West across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and the Adirondacks with extremely slow movement, which would result in a LOT of rain.

That most-recent GFS result is much closer in line with the thinking of the ECMWF, which is the worst case scenario model at this point in time.

It certainly can't hurt to take a few steps in preparation, especially considering the bullshit that went down during last year's October storm. If things come together, this storm looks to me far more destructive on many levels that weren't present in last year's event.

Trying to figure out a way to get my saw down here right now... When big shit is brewing, I feel naked without it after that whole tornado in my yard thing.

glad we're 1/2 way through redoing our roof, with most of it covered with tarps atm

FUUUUUU

Yeah get fuckin stoked for round two!

Clearly you don't know what this whole "perfect storm" is looking like.

you kids are losers in denial if you think the snow that falls from this storm will be significant, yet alone stay long enough to form the beginnings of an actual base.

I hope the connecticunts get a nice bath out of this one. Bridgeport is just too beyond fucking filthy to even exist anymore. Wash away the contamination Sandy!

lol i love skiing but i am super stoked for this stoem becuase its gunna bring in massive surfing swells in nh and im in need of a big wave to surf, its been a while

There are a few areas I would like this to happen to...also talks of these huge storms always reminds me of tool

learn to swim bitches

Sandy is predicted to bring 16 ft swells to RI, why the fuck cant I be home to rip lines?!? FUCK!!

Sounds good man.

In the very very unlikely chance that we run into extreme weather, lets make sure we're in the middle of nowhere and heading away from shore.

"This setup could even wrap in just enough cold air on its western edge to produce wet snow, possibly heavy, in some parts of the central Appalachians (mountains of West Virginia and Pennsylvania)."

SNOW IN PA IN OCTOBER? yeah doubtful

My cousin's boat was the yellow one in the opening scene of the perfect storm /claim

As I read more about this thing, shits getting worse and worse sounding. Guess it's time to prepare.

opening scene of what?

I have a really good feeling we're going to catch a shit ton of swords!

and whoever said the Flemish Cap? yeah I was thinking about hitting that place up, but I kinda wanna dick around other places first ya know?

I read up to 4 feet of snow in parts of West VA. 2-3 feet from Southeastern PA, MD, W.VA, ect. All from a pretty reliable source.

It happened during Wilma, it can happen now. I WAS just talking trash about hoofin it to WVA but I'm actually considering it now

YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING IDIOTS THE ARTICLE IS FROM APRIL 22ND.

god damn. were getting hit with something similar this year this coming weekend on the east coast but were just gonna get rain.
