Nordica Soul Rider 97 vs Moment PB&J

Have the opportunity to buy either, and cannot decide on which one. Nordicas are in a 177 length and Moments are 182. I am 5'10, 135 lbs, intermediate advanced all mtn and low intermediate park skier and ski east coast 35%park and 65% everything else(trees, groomers, etc). I prefer a softer ski in the park, but dont want to sacrifice all mtn performance. Also a little worried that the 182s area little long for me. All suggestions welcome.
 
East coast in Atlantic Canada. Lots of ice and really tight trees. Hills are less than 1000 feet of vert. I was only worried about length because I am light and the trees are close together here.
 
Just some info on the PB&J, they will be on the stiffer side when it comes to park skis. Being slightly stiffer, they will have better all mountain performance.
 
Having owned the PB&J and skiing in similar conditions to you, I’d recommend other skis for your use. The PB&J is a great ski between storms out West but it’s deep rocker lines and shape aren’t the greatest for harder snow or ice. The fact that Moment skis don’t love being tuned sharp tip/tail and like a bit of detuning limits their grip on harder snow in the East.

The Wildcat 108 or original Wildcat would be a great choice for your wider “soft snow/powder” ski eventually though once you add to the quiver.

The Soul Rider are a fun, playful ski but they aren’t the most stable at speed.

It sounds like you had a line on deals to those 2 skis but another very under the radar ski that is available at a great price is the Dynastar Slicer ski which is 98 underfoot. It’s more stable than the Soul Rider and more playful with better hard snow grip than the PB&J. The Slicer is like an old school wide park ski that isn’t super light but that just helps it’s crud and all mountain performance. The best part is that last year’s model can be had for only $239 US/$300 Can from Corbetts.com and comes in 175cm and 181cm. I’d recommend the 181cm for you with a set of light bindings like the Attack2 13 binding.

It’s now called the Menace 98(same ski just different graphics) and Blistergear just did a review of it.

Another great deal in an all mountain freestyle ski is the Volkl Revolt 95. Solid underfoot but playful tip/tail. Great deal in the 181cm ski here if you’re in Canada.

Thanks for the info. I have Icelantic Nomad 105s in 181 for my soft snow ski already. Will definitely check out the options you showed me.
