Nordica Free mounting

I’ve heard of mounting the free different than Nordica suggests. Is this for everyone or just those wanting to ride switch. I’m strictly a directional skier who has skied for 40 years. Still like to drive a ski. Replacing Nordica Enforcer 100, that I like, just getting ragged.
 
Mount at rec. Only real reason to change the mount is to bump up a couple cm's to make the skis little more playful and balanced in the air.
