Noob skater

Skate as much as possible, even if it's only for a couple of minutes. It'll really help early on with getting your ollies consistent and help you maintain your skills. Also, don't be afraid to go to the park, it's super important to get comfortable pumping around and it helps to ride as many different obstacles as possible.

Don't wear thrasher and I'd recommend a helmet but, to each their own,

thanks, i have a quater at my house so ive been practicing on that

im also pretty new to skating. i’ve spent some time at the skate park and i’ve gotta say i find street to be a lot more fun.

honestly the couple weeks of learning how to skate suck, then it gets really fun. The only real way to get better is to skate all the time.

Don't try to learn how to kickflip right away no matter how tempting it is. Learn how to ollie in all 4 stances (regular, switch, fakie, and nollie). It will help you immensely in the future.

This falls into the same category as learning how to hit rails natural and unnatural. If you have your fundamentals down early on, it will make your progression for other tricks so much easier in the long run.

Stick with it. Some days you will feel like you are progressing and other days it will feel like you arent learning anything. Each time you are getting on that board you are getting better, more comfortable, remember that.

spend your first 1-2 months just cruising around to get comfortable skating and get a really good feel for your board. this will help with learning tricks and other skills (youll get better general board control, and you will pick up tricks faster). also bend your knees. Also, learning to skate really improved my skiing (and made learning other boardsports easier like skimboarding and snowboarding). tbh tho you need to be more patient. learnign to skate takes a lot of time. Dont expect to be able to pick up a board and be able to shred immediatly. but remember to stick with it and eventually you will be able to do some cool shit. hope this helps this is the best advice i can give based on my own personal experience of learning to skate.
