Nokia releases smartphone w/ 41megapixel camera

It's all marketing. The clueless consumer assumes more pixels means better pictures (which it can). But unless you plan on creating large, super high resolution images, anything higher than 21 is worthless to the average consumer
 
great, now we're going to get even more teenage girl duck face selfies and photos of shitty food and starbucks, but in a resolution big enough to cover a football field
 
41 megapixels on a sensor the size of my baby toenail and with a lens with horrible optics. It's a ploy to get money from uninformed consumers.

I'll hear it out since it's sporting some Zeiss.
 
Yeah I just remembered that, but given the fact that they're obviously trying to make this thing have decent photographic ability I feel like they'll try and make it pretty good.

My sisters old $300 point and shoot had a zeiss...... even though is regular camera lens with his name printed on
 
that's why a buy a macbook pro 17" retina....i don't need 8 mb of memory and 17 porocessors...i just want to browse facebook and instagram...plus they just work
 
41 mega pixel? Soo dumb. Unless someone is using their pics for gigantic prints, there mega pixel war is stupid. Hence my gh3 takes pretty close stills to cameras with almost twice the mega pixels.

 
41 mpx is a stupid marketing ploy, but I really want to know if their low-light claims are true. Because I'm looking to get a new phone and all I really want to find is a phone that has a camera I can depend on not blowing my pics out when I use the flash and not washing my pics out when I don't have the flash. Anyone have any insight on this?
 
I don't beleive things labeled as zeiss really mean as much anymore. It might not be made by them I think they just use the same element arrangements. Whatevs though its a cell phone camera.
 
Well it's just like anything else- you get what you pay for. My dad worked for Zeiss for nearly 30 years, and he has several amazing pieces of optical equipment, as in honestly unparalleled (No camera gear though, binoculars and rifle scopes). It is, however, a shame that they have settled with putting their name on something less than excellent though.
 
why is everyone on this site against progression of any form? a 41 mega pixel camera sounds so sick, who gives a fuck if it not necessary, how many technologically incompetent people have iphones (including myself soon, can't wait)?

and of all the people saying its marketing, how many of you are wear new fill tilts this season?

when will advertisers learn that they need to just be honest and up front about what really matters to cell phone consumers? Clearly, we're talking about dick pics. "Dickies" make the world go round. I believe Michelle Obama was quoted as saying that.
