Hell we all know any news anywhere is biased... you just got to do your best to filter out the bullshit and figure things out for yourself. If anyone ever wants a nice news source from the other side of things, check out www.kavkaz.org.

Anyway, and back to the original topic for once- I applaud Canada for having the resolve to stand up to Warlord Bush and his gang of criminal malcontents.

Anti-Bush ---- Anti-War ---- Pro-America

History is written by whoever the victors are. To us the guys that attacked the towers are terrorists. to the fellow 'terrorists' they are 'heroes' and soldiers. american tv is full of propaganda. notice all those patriotic comercials with the waving american flag. any nationalism, the american national anthem. its all propaganda and it occurs in every country.

That's right to an extent, history is written in context of the issues that are important now. Like in the early 90's history books didn't have shit to do w/ minority rights and the evolution of the rights of women. Nor did it have anything to do w/ terrorism. In 50 years, when terrorism is possibly even a bigger threat, chapters will plunge into even more depth about the side effects of Russias 'loss' of the cold war, leading to some downfall into its economy and its rise in the supply of black market goods which increase the fecundity of terrorism abroad.

I'm referring to objective history, noone in this country reads totally subjective history, they're going to use the subjective terms of terrorist, but by then this ultra patriotism will be for the most part detached, and it will be looked at from other vantage points.

kami, u say that news anywhere is biased, but i'm going to risk sounding nieve, and say that canadian news lacks propaganda and bias. i mean, of course there's going to be a slight bias in anything, but for the most part, i believe that canadian news, most notably the CBC, attempt to present every side of an issue fairly and with as little bias as possible. i know for certain that CBC presents a much better newscast than that of CNN or HEADLINE NEWS..

I really hate cnn...it's the worst of the lot.

When i want to know whats going on in the world, especially the 'war on terror', i watch CTV or CBC and cross reference that with the BBC.

Sort of. CNN just seems to be the worst of my options. It always seems like you're getting one side of the story..the side the government wants you to hear. Whereas Canadian stations and the BBC seem to show more sides of the story. Though i'm sure there's plenty of sensationalizing on all stations.

I like how Raveripper satisfied his own superego and that of America's with his 'America The Great' bullshit. America is a wonderful place. They have the world's strongest economy, the world's mightiest military, and are the world's greatest workshop. Sure they are the most powerful empire now (they are an empire), but compare it to The Roman Empire. At the Peak of The Roman Empire (or any empire for that matter) it is doubtful to say that the world believed that Rome would one day fall. Now I dont mean to transform this thread into a 'hate America' thread, however; I do wish to install the idea that America shouldn't be thought of as 'The mighty America, forever incharge'. Im also not trying to say, 'Beware America, your days' are numbered'. However, the majority of American's (excluding many of those on this site), need to think more Globally.

Rome fell because it's nation states didn't have a unified military, they had to hire mercenaries. And also the the leader of the medici family at the time got the hell out of dodge while it was happening, the main states were abandoned. Historians mostly agree on the fall of the rome due to their failure to unite the nation states... helll I'm making this point right now and I'm drunk and just got back from teh frats, anyway yea.

THe US also relied on mercenaries, and probably still does. they used Canadian mercinaries in Vietnam. Canada wasn't part of the war so Americans paid some canadian soldiers to fight with them in Vietnam.

Oh man, that ranks up there w/ one of the most uninformed posts ever. A mercenary is a soldier for hire. That soldier is going to fight for whoever pays them the most. Also Rome had no unifying central government, leading to organizational problems regarding enemies. Eventually the countries who were righting Rome had nationalized armies of sorts, and also hired Rome's mercenaries. Rome was defeated because their infrastructure became too out of date to deal w/ invaders, whereas the US's means of communication and organization can deal w/ the outside threats pretty effectively, especially compared to Rome.

You took my statemnet in the wrong context. Im not saying the US has the same problems as Rome Did. Im also not saying that AMerica government is weak and vulnerable and will collapse tomorrow. I'm simply stating the Americans need to be less egotistical and need to see that Even though they seem to posses the most power, they still have many problems and weaknesses

I didn't say that they were fighting for canada, It doesn't change the fact that they were canadian. I was just stating that the US has hired mercinaries just like rome did. simma down.

1080mute: Point well taken, but then again, every country does.

The US didn't hire Candadian mercenaries, period.
