it seriously is. i was a supporter of it. i never seriously did it, but i never hated on no polers. the only thing is, everyone is doing it, and its ruining the whole thing.

alot of the kids doing it, are the kids who saw peps and andys video and thought,"no poles makes you RIDICULOUSLY good looking!" (thx derek) well.... it dont. it only makes yur style looked forced and makes you seem poser.

dont get me wrong, you can ski no poles if u really must, but know this; you are never gonna be as steezy as t-wall, just because you dropped those aluminum shafts. you will never nosepress like pep, just cause you dropped your poles, you will never grab like mahre, just cause you dropped your poles. so seriously stop, like a newschooler whos name passes my once said, "no poles is legit, making fun of it is retarded; but everyone instantly converting and dropping their poles, would be equally retarded.

so there.

EXACTLY!!! i JUST made a big rant in that other no poles thread, but i think you got it covered. people are just fuckin trend whores man.

yes it is, but what im saying is that kids are taking it TOO seriously. thinking that if they drop them they are automatically cool and steezy.

not the case.

If people are so critical of skiing becoming rollerblading (which is totally unfair in and of itself) why is everyone dropping their poles??

i care enough to stop this trend whore before it destroys skiing from the gaper side out!!!! hahaha

Stop posting about poles or no poles, it is really overdone. Searchbar isn't even necessary, there is a thread like this right under this one.

fo real homie i see all deez bitch ass lil kids goin no poles doin pizza steez and shit and dey dont even kno dey style look like shit. when i see tha bitch ass lil kids i be like stop tryin to make tha style played lil kids! you aint even kno how to ski wid poles how you gonna ski witout dem?

bitch ass 5 year old kids learnin how to ski aint got now respekt

but if you already think its fun then why would you need someone to make it look cool before you do it, i have no problem with any style, because everybody has a right to an opinion and a style and who am i to say its no good, but starting something just because other people do it is just dumb, but whatever, lets all just ski and have fun

too each his own for sure man. I mean its not copying anyone, its just a new outlook on this type of skiing. Also people where certain outfits the pros do, is that not poser ish also???? Not to mention how about all the people that still do wear poles? Now that people are doing both things wouldnt you consider the people skiing with poles the same way???

no, because thats the only clothing that ski companies put out.

no poles craze started all of a sudden cause of one video; thats poser.

hard to ski the rest of the mt without poles, so I'll continue with them. What else would I use to hit my friends with? :D

this is a good rant, no poles will never make you instenly good, and people need to stop being so serrius about it.

i like it. im not gonna lie, if you dont know what you are doing, it looks goofy. hell, it always looks kinda goofy, but its fun. its different. i dont really think its harder or asier, but it is nice to do a grab with no poles in the way.

it may be a huge trend that everyone is doing, but 90% of the kids doing it that i see are really good and it looks awesome. i do it about 40% of the time and it is way too fun to just not do it because its not cool. i bet in the next couple years everyone in the park will be without poles.

there is nothing wrong with that, it will probably stay and thats just progression.

"you are never gonna be as steezy as t-wall, just because you dropped those aluminum shafts. you will never nosepress like pep, just cause you dropped your poles, you will never grab like mahre, just cause you dropped your poles. so seriously stop"

nothing will ever make you good.

sounds like you are a glass half empty kind of guy. try to smile sometimes, life will seem better.

actually TJ Schiller was one of the first to ride without poles, he forgot to bring them to a comp. and made it to the finals without them. so no, it wasn't just "the idea" that made people ski without em. or maybe it just opened thier eyes to something new, and possibly fun?

im not mad about people trying new things. you probably didnt read my post well huh? i said im tired of posers doing this just to look cool.

to support my theory there are about 20 videos on the first page of videos that feature several shots of skiers skiing no poles..... where did that come from guys?

ugh, hello? people have been riding no poles for like, EVER. pollard, osteness i believe, and all those other hood cats used to not use them. and before that, it was done. its nothing new. theres a reason the trend keeps popping up, it seems like some new hot thing as soon as people forget about it, then they all realize its not as useful as they think. i am 100 % for dropping poles once in a while, it DEFINATLY helps you use your center of mass vs your extremities to spin, but at the same time, where youd use poles to correct minute balance issues, you have to use your arms. plus i dont feel as comfy. but thats just me.

people, im 100 with this guy. its fun, but stop jumping on the bandwagon cause its the new cool thing. give it a season or 2 youll all be back to hating.

you are obviously one of the peeps im talking bout. supporting this cause its cool. bye bye, youll be back.

Certain aspects of this site are a bottomless pit of whining, crying, namecalling, trend spotting, price policing, fashion cop, mandate-setting, and overall pesimism.

I love you - the special places in my heart - of NS, that aren't holes of the afformentioned shitbags and asshats. I thank you.

i saw three kids at wolf creek throwin cork fives and sevens with mad style with no poles, not even a park jump either, just one built over this big mound of snow that was perfect for making a jump

i would much rather see a steezy skier without poles than a poled skier trying to do one footed grinds with balerina steeze

i stopped using poles because i never used them. unless its really deep powder or your stuck in a steep, crowded lift line, all they seem to do is get in the way. not to mention all the sore thumbs. not worth it. Why do you ski with poles? When I started skiing I just used them because I thought i had to. When you picture someone skiing, you picture them with poles. I honestly think its ridiculous to even care what someone ELSE is doing. Are the people without poles ruining skiing for the people with poles? Its a preference. If you dont like it, dont do it. If you do like it, do it. It seems pretty simple.

what i feel is more of an issue than skiing sans poles is that most of the kids that do it seem to be on 160cm skis. this is where the lines between skiing and skiboaring are becoming extremely blurred in my opinion. i think that doing something with no poles on small skis is much easier than on longer skis while using poles. but what do i know...

I secretly liked skiing with no poles before it became a trend, and once it did, I didnt feel so ashamed to go out and do it so much.

But only in the park.

i think since the andy, pep edit at pc more people are trying it out. i dont know tho it is kinda fun but doesnt look all that cool.

huh. i thought this was going to be another textbook rant, but it was actually well thought out.

it looks fucking tight if u ALREADY have good style with poles... no poles with flailing arms and boner steeze is not the idea... its such a "new" thing but its already become so played...

I learned how to ski without any poles 2 years ago when I made the switch over to skiing after snowboarding the better half of my life. The whole concept of poles didn't make any sense to me until last year when I finally learned how to correctly use them. I still hardly ever use poles, and don't understand what the point of them are when I see people riding park and rocking the little 3 foot sticks when they're 6 feet tall. What the fuck is up with that? Is short poles that serve no purpose just as trendy as no poles now or what? I think if people are gonna hate on anyone who does not use any poles, the people who use the short little bitch sticks should be hated on just as much!

^Amen to that. I'd never ski with poles shorter than like 120 cos then I wouldnt be able to ski as well when not in the air. Im 6"
