Well, I have decided to part ways with my 18-200 f3.5-5.6 VR in hopes of getting some more f2.8 glass. I am putting it up on NS before Ebay in hopes that it ends up in the hands of a fellow skier. I got this lens last year and it has served me very well. I love having the flexibility of being able to switch from wide angle to telephoto without changing lenses (great in sports when players are running towards you- you can get them in the frame no matter how close/far they are from you). Its an awesome walk around/everyday lens and is great for beginner/intermediate photographers. I have taken excellent care of this and there are no visible (at least I cant find any) scratches on the body of the lens OR the glass. Everything works perfectly on the lens.
So, just as an FYI, this lens is the version 1. The second version is optically identical. The only difference it is that it has a zoom lock switch on it so that you can ensure the lens stays at one focal length. IMO, this is not a very important addition but if it is a deal breaker for you, look elsewhere. Otherwise, this is the exact same lens. The VR systems are also the same. If you don't know about VR, its pretty sweet. It cuts down on vibrations, letting you use a slower shutter speed in low light conditions without getting motion blur in your photos.
Comes with front and rear lens caps, lens hood, and if you want, the box as well (which may have a lens case in it BUT I AM NOT SURE) (note that the box is at home and I am at school so it will take a bit of time to get the box up here, but not too long). Asking price is $475 (look around, you most likely wont find it for less)
Anways, below are some photos of the lens followed by some photos I have taken with the lens.

Forgot to add that the lens hood has 1 or 2 very minor scratches on it. The lens itself, however, has none.

damnnn i wish i had money right now.. this is the exact lens i want..haha maybe if you still are trying to get rid of it in a couple months i can buy it... free bump!

Yea thats a good deal, it would work for my camera too, but im looking for a f2.8 as well, but its cool that you put it on here in hopes of it belonging to a fellow skiier

Thanks man! What lens are you looking at? im thinking the nikon 17-55 or 24-70 (but that is an expensive lens) or the tamron 17-50.

thats cool, i jus wanted a , the lens that came with the d5000 is a Nikkor 18-55mm, 3.5-5.6 as well, i want a auto/manual focus lens with a good wide angle zoom and fast aperature, peferably fisheye capabilty too. I was looking at a14-24mm f/2.8 lens. But im only 16 and i dont have close to the money i need.

woops i kinda fucked up on that last writing, but a 80-200mm f/2.8 lens would be dope, but theres no way ill have the money

Nice man! Im not trying to push a sale on you or anything, but it seems like this lens would fit you pretty well right now. You can cover all the focal lengths you want (pretty much) for less than any of the lenses you mentioned. It might not be a bad idea to have something until funds are more available for you.

yea, looks like a good lens for shure, thanks for the offer, but im saving up for alot of shit, like a new skimboard, since i have a working lens right now ill jus stick with it till i get a real job. Good luck on your sale dude

Hey bud,
How would you feel if my teacher took this off your hands for your asking price?
My teacher being a teacher of Communication Technology class
class where high school students get to learn how to produce media projects.learn digital design, photography, audio and video production and also serigraphy and silk screening (making shirt designs and inking them with multi colours)

Our class has 6 nikon d60 with only one stock lens each.It would be nice if we had at least one more, especially for a cheaper price then new.
We live in a town away form a big city meaning a lot of students ski.Id would be a great opportunity for my teacher to purchase this because it would offer all our skiers (an boarders :( ) a chance to capture more when they borrow equipment.

What do you think.if you still have it, I'll have him email you

hey man if you want an all around superiour ultra wide angle lens with a fast f-stop, look into the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 aspherical. adorama has it. its a super nice lens, pm me for some sample photos. or i might put the up here when im i have the mental focus to do that haha. im pretty stoned right now.
