alright i'm stuck between these two cameras d90 and d5100

clearly the D5100 if ur going the video route.

clearly dont bother with nikon if youre going the video route. unless you already have their lenses or something.

This. Canon t2i 550d is what I recommend. Super easy to use, and it shoots 60fps which is far superior.

I love my D90. If you're not in it for video, just photo, the D90 is absolutely excellent. Honestly, I like the way it feels way better than the T2i, and it produces quality shit.

The d90 is better if you want to take photos. Canon would be a better choice if you want to focus on video.

Honestly though, for ease of use as well as the fact you still have the option to take really nice photos, filming with a Dslr is better imo.

I love my d90, it's perfect for me right now and I'm very satisfied with ithe photo quality. Video is descent but I would suggest canon if you're going down that route.

Every Nikon that has been made with video since the D90 blows the D90 video out of the water. They now all shoot at 1080 instead of 720 (still has that option though). I have filmed with a D90 and you get a lot of background noise, which can be very annoying.

The biggest argument I see between Nikon video DSLRS and Canons is that Nikons do 30fps, 25 fps, and 24 fps, while most of the Canons can do the 60fps at 720p which results in the buttery slowmo and clear image quality, etc.

So basically like they said: Nikon = photo, Canon = video. The nice part about Canon DSLR's is that all of them shoot the same exact kind of video, its the sensors and body construction, and photo quality you are paying more for. Nikon seems to stagger their prices a little more.
