everything will be officially announced tomorrow

hopefully this has something other than 24p

if it does and it is cheaper than the 7D, then i know what i will be drooling at for the next few months

it should be at least the same as the D3100, which is 1080/24p 720/30p and 720/24p
I'm crossing my fingers for 720/60pif not I'm gonna be using twixtor a ton :)

I knew this was your thread the second I saw it. Do you plan on getting it or are you just hyped?

If it has full manual control and 720/60p for video then I will sell some stuff and make it happen, but if not then I'll keep my current camera

yeah, when its announced tomorrow

Im fairly sure Im sick of these threads already. Im also sick of the fact that this camera wont have 60p nor the standard 3 on the top. I wanted the replacement to be more pro oriented and cutesy scene modes. How exactly does Nikon expect this camera to compare with the 7D? Seeing as this will be more than the 7d..

Yeah, I sure wish it would have full manual video controls.

It's still a solid prosumerish level camera at a good price.

i've spent most of the day on nikonrumors reading all the comments and shit haha.

really excited for it to drop. they said it will probably be released at 12 so i figured i'd stay up but if it doesnt oh well. half way through the summer i was ready to upgrade from my D60 to a D90 but i'm glad i waited. I probably won't film too much with it if i do end up getting it but the things that have been pulling me in are the 6fps, dual memory card slots, weatherproof, and the 12,600(?) ISO. the D60 suuuuucks in low light and it seems that the D&K will be better than the D90 in lowlight which is a huge plus for me. i'm so excited haha

fuck

theres a lack of 720/60p >:(

Why the fuck would Nikon even release this. Im honestly disappointed, and I fucking hate Canon camera interfaces.

care to expand on that? I think it's a great upgrade from the d90. The only thing that's disappointing about it is the lack of 1080 30p and 720 60p for video.

Quoting Jacuse$[/b]:
manual shutteryessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssall Nikon HDSLRs have manual aperture, it was shutter speed I was waiting for, but I still want 60p

Sure its a great 'camera' but at this time Im looking for an hdslr and well, from a specs point, its a lame excuse at one considering the 7d is almost the exact same price.

Compared to my D200, the 'improvements' arent nearly worth $1200. Got a few pixels, a longer lasting battery (never been a problem), and maybe a better AF system. The only thing that I long for with my camera is higher ISO (nearly every current camera on the market outperforms the D200) and a solid video function, just couldnt justify spending that much.

Least I wouldnt lose the intervalometer, but I would lose all my CF cards which I am not too pleased with. I knew it was dual slot but was I was really hoping for 1CF 1SD.

And did they put the mic on the back of the camera?

Also: someone find me a price tag for this 35mm 1.4, though I hate G lenses, if I do upgrade that means Ill be sticking with crop sensors for some time.

And the voice of me says figure out how to properly make a camera lay out.

(me to canon)

Agreed, the lack of a solid video function is a definite downfall to this cam. But I see the d7000 as more of a competitor to the 60d than to the 7d (both have pretty much the same price point). Forgetting video, the d7000 has roughly the same if not slightly better specs than the 60d. So this is a great cam to upgrade to for people who aren't serious about filming.
We'll have to see some side by side picture comparisons before getting too opinionated though.

Based on the canon forums on fredmiranda, the D7000 beats the 60D, but I don't know much about the 60D, nor care to. I was just hoping that Nikon could finally have an answer for the 7D, a year later.

Any rumors suggesting they are keeping the true prosumer line and replacing the D300s? Or are they for sure merging down to this consumer body.

Seriously, someone find me more info on the 35mm 1.4..

I like my D90 and don't give two shits about video, because I'm not a filmmaker. I feel like a lot of people bash Nikon for being behind Canon in video, but how many of those people actually shoot films? I know many of you on NS do, but in the outside world, most of these people bitching are straight photographers. Those who get the 7D over the D300 aren't photographers first, they're videographers who want the lenses, DOF, and the ability to shoot photos well.

Id vouch against that, everyone I know that has a 7d is a photographer first, and a videographer because they can. True videographers wouldn't want a 7D and all its flaws. Maybe some indie filmmakers with a low to no budget, but all 7D owners I know are photogs.

very excited. pretty much everything i hoped for (except 720 @ 60fps but oh well, im not really a film guy) but seems like a perfect upgrade for me.

and despite. i believe it's priced at like $600 but it's available for pre-order now i just gotta go to skewl so i can't double check

given the same cash and accesories Im sure he could of made the same video with a flip..

and looks like Im buying the 35mm f/2. Hopefully that at least means more are being sold used.

I highly doubt that. Most of the first video was shot in low light, something that the flip wouldn't do nearly as well in. And obviously it has the added benefits that come with interchangeable lenses. This video is also a lot sharper than the footage either the d90 or the flip would be able to produce (not as big of a difference in sharpness over the flip...but still there's a difference).
Again, it's not quite up to par with canon's hdslr's but they got a lot closer with this release.

I guess you misread my over exaggeration. I was simply commenting on the fact that yes its a good video, but there were more factors playing that created the end product.

Eheath - they almost have to, if they are sticking to their standard numbering system. Though I think it sounds stupid as fuck lol almost sounds like they are over compensating.

just can't win with hdslrs

this has AF, which means that you could get a friend to film if you adjust the manual settings, but no 1080 30p or 720 60p, and it has 6fps sequence

60D has all the video features and a swivel screen, but very low burst, and considered a downgrade from the 50D in terms of actual photos

7D has pretty much everything, best video, good photos and best burst, but no AF or swivel screen

and in other news the sony nex with 1080i sucks, and the panny af100 is super expensive

Such a dumb idea on NIkon's part. WHY would they release something that doesn't compete with the 7d?

Hopefully they release something new at photokina.

I'm curious as to why no one has defended the d7000 with its autofocus during video. I don't do any video, but I was under the impression that the major poopoo against HDSLRs was the lack of video autofocus?

because I can almost guarantee it will be garbage, video af probably won't even compare to pictures af..
