well this is looking really sick, just talked to a nike rep at my local shop and he said they are bringing a game changing boot to the market.

there have been some pictures flying around already, not sure if they are true or not but lets have all discussion on this wonderful game changing idea of a ski boot take place here!

this goes with what i have heard as to what the boot will look like, and it is definitely a game changing boot!

Stiff tongue and cable infused laces. They have eliminated the need for buckles. Granted this boot is still in prototype but everything I have heard so far has been good reviews. Tough leather around a hard plastic shell, durability and style! meet the 2012-2013 nike shred ski boot. taken from a similar vapen style but infused with a hard shell.

This is not an april fools joke. I can vouch for some serious word about these. One of my buddies adam who works at a shop is close to one of the nike guys and said they were seriously considering getting into the boot game. I guess they followed through with it!

okay you guys are all fucking retarded. I work at a ski shop and have a background in the ski industry. Talking to my boss who actually went to SIA and saw the nike booth. He talked with them and they said it is still in production. They haven't even made a mold yet, so all these pictures are shopped.

However whoever shopped the last one got the prototype picture somehow.

This is the actual prototype that my boss showed me.

your full of shit, you dont hav ebackground in the industry, and you know nothing about the boot.

who cares if your boss went to sia? did you?

i did and i can say for a fact that they had a prototype ski boot there, that picture is real since i saw them take it!

Yes these are real and they are so comfy.

There feel a lot like kevlar and like any normal boot, but they weigh soooo little. I can vouch for these, and getting pics tomorrow.

okay yeah your right I didn't intern at on3p and I don't know any reps in the industry.

Why did you go to SIA? you just had a shit ton of money to blow?

i had a buyer badge.

parents are friends with the owner of a ski shop that gets more credentials then they need, kiss the owners ass, get one of the extra passes, go on ns claim i was at sia, make you feel jelly, ???????, profit.

but back on topic, mr moose man or whatever his name is has the right photo, no clue how he got it on the interwebs though since the nike guys had it in a binder at sia labeled nike ski gear, so prehaps they are going to be making a full line of products.

Well the interesting thing about it (from what I have heard) is that it is similar to Valo skates, in the sense that it is still a hard plastic shell underneath but a leather outlining for style. As well as the laces actually being a boa cable system.

I still think they should add at least one or two buckles

Im certainly interested to see what comes out. Those top pics are obviously just shoped Langes. Why would Nike start by making Womans touring boots.

The bottom pic looks more like it. I just hope they still have a plastic shell under there. Anyone who fits snowboard boots will know how hard it is to fit` them properly. Not being able to make shell adjustments would be a big mistake. Also I dont think the laces will last long into production. Think just how hard it will be to properly tighten your boots and also how long it would take. Also you cant just pop the buckles at the lift to let your feet breath.

Im not going to judge yet as they still have a long long way to go before we see anything real. I just hope they dont make a Snowboard boot with ski heel and toes.

If they have a plastic shell under then I wonder how long the fabric will last. There is no point in it being there other then to look cool, like the old SPK pro's. I dont personally think a Boa system would work to well. Its not great on board boots and would probably be even worse on a ski boot thanks to the extra forces.

I know there trying to change things up and hopefully they do it very well, but there board boots had quite a few teething problems with fit so lets wait and see.

But if any one has enough money to make a cool new boot its nike so fingers crossed.

I dont get how that is going to be supportive as a normal ski boot, I guess it will be ok for parks and urban, but for big mountain riding I dont see it happening.

still being tested, but from what i have seen jossi wearing at keystone, there are no buckles visible, at least on the bottom of the boot that his skinny pants dont cover.

the cable system will help tighten the boot down and keep the tounge secure to your leg, also there is a power strap.

and nike took what solomon did with the spk and amped it up, with the leather that is, nike just covered their whole boot in it.

Yeah I totally agree.

I think the boa system is a good step though cause I do have issues with my boots not getting an even tighten all the way through.

it is still a normal ski booth with the leather outer liner. from what i know.

but i agree, i also see this as being a park boot and not a charging boot.

In theory Boa is a good idea, however have you ever tried it? The cable is so tiny that you get weird pressure points where the cable wraps around teh front of the leg. It could work ok on the outer shell, as there would be more between the leg and the cable, but really I would rather just have 2 buckles one on the instep and one on the cuff. With boa you cant vary the tightening, for example, in the park I often losen the cuff slightly more but keep the foot tight. You wont have this option with a BOa, so it will be less adjustable. Unless they use more then one BOA system, but then your just asking for durability issues, and if you have ever tried replacing a BOA cable you will know how much harder it is then just swapping out a buckle.

on another note,if everyone wasn;t so closed minded towards LANGE boots, they would realize theze new XT 130's would revolutionize the industry. such an amazing boot. comfy and light, 130 flex and a hike mode.

Lange is back whether all the full tilt pussies like it or not.

I did not know Lange boots had gone any where, they have always been great boots.

But I dont think that boot will revolutionize anything. There are already quite a few Apline/tour boots available, some with a stiff flex like that. Quest 14 is a good example.

sorry if Im misguided but I have never seen any hate. lange make some of the best race boots available and Dynastar make some awesome skis. Is it just a NS hate thing?

The fact people are already saying they will buy them, without knowing anything about how they fit, amazes me. Sure if they fit you they could be good, but if they don't fit you they will be the worst boot ever. So far all we can say about these is Nike is working on them, nothing else.
