Nick Goepper. 8 flips, 15 1/2 spins, 2 grabs? fnals on thursday night? WACK

I guess. I understand why you support him, hometown and all, but he's biting on BB's steeze which isn't really a steeze to bite on if you're going to do that. He is a great park skier, without a doubt, but his arguably boring style won't go far. In the past I've been all for this perfection style, but after watching X I can't help but throw up. Where did the free in freeskiing go? We are in the dark ages of slope skiing. Slope used to be about doing something different, from Gagnier's win over Hall to Deschaneux's USO big air win, style trumped perfection. Today is a sad, embarrassing song. The only character truly in comps with any balls to stay somewhat true to their style is Wallisch, and even he's a stretch in comps. Bring back Cusson's style, Deschaneux's style, even Gagnier's different approach to rails - they've always taken skiing in their own way.

Mickael was 19 when he won the US open, and that was arguably the start of his stylish years, IMO. Give Nick time if you dont like his style, he'll be there soon.

I dont know why there is all this hate on the athletes anyways, if you have a problem about how something is judged, is it not the judges that are at fault?

seriously, shut the fuck up.
Its people like you who are ruining skiing for me... the ns trend to suck the shit out of bdog or henrik coz they have cool "style" and shit and they should win x games coz their style is "ignant"... Its fucked.
This is X games, and a platinum competition... the most technical skier wins, the best professional athletes compete... Its not, lets get high, do some 180s that look cool, and expect to win, then when they dont, people like you bitch about it on ns.
If you want to watch style, (which is completely up to an individual as to what they consider stylish), then sit on your computer and watch edits that make you happy.
We have always wanted skiing to grow as a sport, and its exceptionally talented people like goepper or Bobby or Gus etc that is doing that for us through their competition skiing, because thats what the viewers want to see. Money thats being pumped into skiing isnt because the market of people who smoke weed and get "inspired" watching B-Dog is being targeted.
Goepper fucking slayed tonight, as he has slayed every dew tour. You should respect the fuck out of his talents and be showing him respect. Not being an ignorant little girl complaining just coz you cant do shit

In the end of the day all of you kids can hate and bitch as much as you want but in reality a 17 year old kid not only just podiumed in his first winter X but placed 2nd That is absolutley insane... and now he's lucky enough to have his name in the title of a thread on NS!? What a night!

yeah cause a dub 12 mute to Japan is so boring, so is a switch dub 12, and so is Bobby's dub 10 blunts. Shut up, steeze won't win comps, tech will, you can't say that comp skiers do't have style, they have a different style than what you call "steeezy" skiers. Also Gagniers run was very technical for it's time.

If someone can ruin skiing for you by posting their thoughts on a message board, maybe skiing isn't your thing. Ski the way you want, I didn't mention how you personally should ski.

What a night indeed, congrats to him, I am sure he's on top of the world right now and deserves to feel that way. I bitch and moan because this is indeed an open skiing message board to post your thoughts; those were mine.

why does everyone complain about the mute and japans over and over but they like harlauts run more? he does 3 safety grabs in a row..

Talking shit on Nick = Dumb as AIDS

Your not grabbing unless your grabbing blunt in my book. Oh shit... Wait a sec. Was this the X-Games? A comp where you NEED all four dubs to get first? Or was it a style comp?

No it was the X-Games, and didn't he do a dub 12 mute to japan?

I have seen Nick do some really sick looking tricks including one of the sickest tricks, corked 9 Jesus grab.

It was a comp not a video shoot you dumb fuck.

You need to chill. One reason why B-dog and Henrick should do better than they do isn't just their style, it's the fucking difficulty of the tricks they do. It's sooooooooo much harder to lip 2 on than doing a regular 2. Soooooooo much harder to do that dub grabbed, tweaked tail 9 that henrick did in big air last year than a muted dub cork 12. Not only do these guys bring a new style to comps, the tricks they do are much more difficult than what im seeing. Skiing as become a huck fest and while it's entertaining for the common people to watch, skiers like us should be ashamed. Style has been tossed away for big spins and flips. The guy you quoted is 100% right.

And don't go saying I don't respect kids like Goepper and Brown. They are talented and are pushing the sport. But creativity has been lost and replaced with how many spins and flips someone can get into a run and frankly it's fucking boring.

And before I get burned by half the kids in this thread I realize that there are a lot of difficult tricks that were thrown this year. I get that two grabs during a dub cork is incredibly hard. I'm talking in general and am just trying to state that what B-Dog and Edollo do certainly isn't easy, which most kids think it is.

Reading through this thread I don't recollect anyone mentioning anything about blunt being the 'steeze god's greatest grab' or whatever point you're trying to shove in our mouths. Have the balls to quote whoever you were calling out.

This, OP goepper isn't as bad as you're making him out to be. Tom only did two grabs too

their style is good for edits. you talk of creativity and all that, well again, if you want to watch all that, id recommend watching a B&E show rather than the X games.
I just get pissed when someone like Nick, who has worked his ass off and has absolutely slayed the comp scene lately, (he has podium every major event he has been in lately; 3rd dew stop last year, dumont cup, nz winter games, stop 1 and 2 dew this year and now x games), and would of just had the night of his life coming 2nd as a rookie at X.. to then read a thread on him like this, which he definitely saw as he was online last night... Its just typical NS bullshit, people get so jealous when someone they don't support does well and then look to try bring them down....

Neither did he, he said "in his books" not the X-Games judges no one/nowhere else but in Andy Parry's mind (which is full of mysterious wizards and stuff).

geopper's a boss, wallisch was just a little more stylish, that's what it comes down to.

I dont fucking care what his run was like but his heroes are bobby brown and jesus christ? What fucking 17 year old superstar athlete lists jesus christ as a hero!?

He should be out there slammin puss, getting wasted and being an all around de generate. Those were the good ol days of skiing!

I understand this. Sort of the reason why I don't really watch or follow comps as much as some people I know. I like the creativity and to be honest get lost in a lot of the tech aspects of skiing. Maybe I haven't watched it enough or maybe I just don't understand, but I accept it, you also don't see me talking trash on X and I still got some appreciation for it. I just seem to enjoy Movies and Edits more, then raw comp skiing personally.

Competing and watching comps isn't for everybody, many like the laid back creativity of things like Traveling Circus and the B&E show. And some like watching how tech and clean someone can be in X or Dew Tour. Both Work extremely hard and some athletes really don't get the credit they deserve IMO. It's alot of training involved to get to be at that level, to do those tricks, to come up and master things and make them their own in their own style.

B&E's tricks aren't straight up easy, they practice a ton at what they do, and it takes something up in your noggin to come up with tricks like the do and same with skiers like Andy Parry who come up with unreal tricks that must take many times to fully get down. Watching Traveling circus over time I've noticed how Andy has gotten more comfortable with tricks like the Hippy Killer. Then again I wouldn't see Andy doing comps like X just because it doesn't fit his skiing style. On the other hand I don't really see Bobby B living in a van and shredding rails everyday.

TL;DR People like watching different things and take different things out of skiing. If you don't like something like X-Games, or the B&E show, then don't watch it.

I remember when people bitched about everyone doing switch 10s all the time. It was the exact same arguments as everyone is having now- 'too many athletes doing the hardest trick perfectly, not enough 'style'. But the thing is you need the athletes to compete in this manner if you wanna see (dare I say it) progression. You wont see stylish, awesome, unique dubs in a comp (Henrik aside) until athletes start throwing triples (which will be scored higher).

And then we can have this argument all over again.

No jack ass that what I was saying because it is "god greatest grab" and I would like you to say otherwise.

Balls? Wait what? I really don't know whats going anymore.

I think my last statement had some balls behind it. Lets go to the instant reply:

"Talking shit on Nick = Dumb as AIDS" - me last post

and...

"It was a comp not a video shoot you dumb fuck." - me again

BAM ball for your mom!

As for not quoting the last person you can fuck off one more time. I didn't think I had to click on that shit and make sure the retarded people knew what I was talking about.

So just to make things clear

Blunt = Best grab for many reasons

You = Dumb ass

Nick = Still the man

And once again an orange-name makes a complete ass of himself and by extension the company and industry that he represents.

It's too bad, I actually kind of liked Andy..

I stand by my theorem:

Injured skier / amount not skied x time spent online =

Butthurt on NS

Goes even for pros. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

that sucks. I like him even more. speaking your mind and not holding back to hold up a fake image is better.

I'm all for speaking your mind. But saying things like "retard", "dumb fuck", "stupid as AIDS", etc. and calling out people's moms is simply unprofessional.

And Mikko, I accept your theory, but I still think he could post under an alias if he really needs to be all butthurt. I sound like a broken record, but the orange-name carries with it the burden of representing the ski industry, and I think some people need to remember that.

There's truth to that and there's a time and place for everything, even AIDS, but lashing out ain't always wise. But, I'm also glad that anyone, from admins to nooberinos can come on NS and say what they want, no matter the consequences.

Especially "fuck". I hate when sites try to censor f**k.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck, fuckedy-fuck. Ahh.

Well I still like you.

Ok, this is what it comes down to. I'm a person, but I'm also "looked up to" in away and need to set a good example. I agree with that, and 98% of the time I am that person. However right now your looking at my words a bit to harshly considering the nature of the board, and the fact that I'm talking to my peers. That's the way I talk to friends and people I hang out with. Well nevermind its not, I say alot more obscene things when I'm with my friends.

I really wasn't aware of the problem with orange names but Mike-O is on the mark with that.

And I'm not some big pro skier I'm a 25 year old ski bum that wants to keep living the dream. I'm looking for a job right now and the best hope I have is AppleBees. So anyone in the SCL area has some leads on work let me know.

My bad for hijacking the post.
