Kelowna RCMP have taken down a second significant marijuana grow operation in the matter of days.

On Saturday, members of the RCMP Drug Section raided a home in the Upper Mission area.

Police seized more than 5,500 plants in various stages of development in the basement of the home.

They also found a hydro bypass in the residence.

A 36-year-old Vernon man and a 32-year-old man from Kelowna were both arrested at the scene.

Both have been released on a Promise To Appear in court in May.

They face charges of Theft of Hydro, Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

An arrest warrant has also been issued for a 24-year-old Merritt woman.

On Thursday of last week, three people were arrested after police discovered a sophisticated grow-op in a warehouse on Belgo Road.

For weed at least. There was a statistic I saw that there are so many grow ops in Kelowna that the RCMP could shut it down one a day for a year and there would still be more grow ops.

People who turn rental properties into factory grows are real assholes. Many a local investor or real estate manager has been ruined by this new movement of rent, grow, ditch. My good friends mother lost 200k into repairs on one property in the Bay area because of mold, Jerry rigged wiring and rotting floors. I like weed as much as the next guy but growers are becoming opportunistic assholes the less dangerous it gets legally for them

5000 plants produces around 400g each dried.A ounce is 28 gr and it costs around 100$ for a normal quality.

Its 7.14 millions dollar each time it is harvested.

Enough to feed 38 000 African childs for one year.

I wonder if they did feed Africans, would they still be accused for humanitary acts?

seeing as you can get free weed basically anywhere in nelson, and that their are plants growing in differnt stores (that cops know about) yeah, i would say they are the weed capital.
