Next level ski patrollers

"the volunteer program was resurrected last year with officers in full

uniform and armed with guns hitting the slopes on their days off to act

as a visual deterrence"

At that point they aren't even about keeping the supposed health and safety of the skiers and snowboarders. They just want to be the biggest buzz kills on the mountain that they can possibly be

"Last year, there was one drug seizure and several warnings for reckless skiing in snow zones, but no major incidents, Campbell said."

can the police have any legal jurisdiction over skiing too fast and calling it reckless endangerment or something? SUI?

well, i can't outrun the cops in a car so here's a chance to do it somewhere i can. slowly roll by them with a bottle in one hand, 3 doobs in the other, and then DUST EM, repeat

these guys are NOT ski patrollers. they are part of a separate organization. RCMP stands for royal canadian mounted police

our mountain had some undercover ski patrol shit goin on last year. took a tree run, which is not allowed where i ski, and some guy dressed like a gaper stopped me and threatened to take my pass, he was the real deal too, shit is getting sketchy

I am so proud to be European at this moment

In this moment I am Europhoric, not because I can eat cheese and use public transport easily, but because I have been released from the shackles of polizei. Especially on mountains. Unless you're in Italy, but that's because Italy sucks.

this isn't new in Canada at all. Ontario has had a OPP presence on the hill as long as I can remember. In BC the cops have been on the hill in uniform with their guns for years now as well.

Some friends of mine got busted for smoking a joint on the chairlift. I guess the cop was on the chair behind them and because they were snowboarders - they were still at the top of the lift doing up their bindings when the cop got off the chair. two of them were employees of the hill but didn't lose their job, they all got community service.

i know theyre not real patrollers, but they're volunteering to do part of a ski patrollers job at these mountains, except with the power to do something other than clip your pass, and they have GUNS in case some gangster park rat decides to take out his glock and cap a ho

They're not volunteering to do the work of a ski patroller. Thats fucking bullshit. 99% of the time, its simply a police officer who wants to go skiing. They get to ski for free if they ski in their uniform, as long as they uphold the law when they are there.

Whitewater, one of the most laid back and carefree ski hills in Canada has had RCMP officers go skiing there. All they have to do is carry a radio and response when they get called, and more often than not they get called for theft of services (people using other peoples season passes, or trying to ski without a lift ticket). Some Cops are skiers, and some shred pretty well.

The whole "keeping the mountain family friendly" pisses me off. Don't take this the wrong way, kids are great and I'm all for them learning, but you are in public. You will see people drinking in public, you will see people smoking in public, why is a mountain different? Ski patrol, and I guess these guys too, don't realize that there are parts of the mountain (such as the park) where you don't take your kids (unless they truly want to learn park, in which case you need to accept there will be drinking and smoking). Maybe keeping parts of the mountain like "beginner zones" really family friendly would be more productive and well received by more people, because I'm pretty sure none of us want the cops in the park.

lol fuck that.. good thing in MN the hills are small enough for only 8-10 ski patrols to cover the whole hill.. but only like 3 of them work at a time and they dont go through the trees/parks

Not necessarily....private property laws etc. and smoking Is legal in public where I live, and most places I thought?

Alright, go to your local resort, continue to hike and ski the runs after they close and when the cops come to arrest you for trespassing, use that brilliant logic on them and see what happens. I heard one kid tried it and the cops just left him alone and the cops told the resort that because their business is on public land, they can't do anything about it.

NO BRO, IT'S ALL PUBLIC LAND! I CAN DO WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT AT A SKI RESORT! I DON'T CARE IF THEY'RE LEASING THE LAND OR IF SOMEONE ACTUALLY OWNS THE LAND- WHICH A LOT OF RESORTS DO. IT'S NOT THEIRS! IT'S THE PUBLIC'S!

Obviously that child above us doesn't know how the real world functions.
