It would, except there's so much of it that it pushes away everything else, and the front page is about Miley Cyrus following Gus Kenworthy.
 
I feel like the only reason this thread was made because you guys were butthurt about the olympics coverage.
 
Well... if ya dont like it then downvote it and it wont get to the front page. The front page is in the hands of the community members, not the mods or anything

Tbh, I actually love the articles being posted, to me it's really interesting seeing how the general public reacts to the sport I love and the athletes I've watched for years

i dont understand why you need to bitch out like this. if you dont like the new then you can easily customize your home page on NS to only show videos and pics or whatever the fuck you like to see. No need to bitch out because majority of ns likes seeing that shit otherwise it wouldn't be up-voted to the homepage

I think the LaFa crew is a little jelous that the kids from the olympics are getting paid, and they are still bustin there ass hitting handrails, and not selling enough gloves to make a decent living.

Guys there is a down vote button for a reason. Our whole mantra is to have all the coverage, photos, videos and discussion everywhere on the internet added. Then, we put it to the vote of the people as to what makes it to the top.

If skiers care about reading articles on Gus and Miley Cyrus today then they can read that.

If they down bomb that to oblivion and up vote the latest LaFa edit then that is what is popular.

I for one also found it interesting to get a window into the insanity of the 'real world' Olympics coverage. I didn't read it like fan stoke though more of satire. That is why I threw some up votes it's way.

TL;DR newschoolers is a democracy. If you don't like it then get the fuck out there and start voting.

I'm calling out LaFa for not putting out more content. Write some articles and get that shit up there so you guys can show us the side of Freeskiing that isn't the Olympics.

 
I actually really liked having one place where I could see the meta internet view of skiing. Sure some of it was bullshit, but regularly I wouldn't know that stuff is being said.

Its rad to have one place where we can see everything to do with our sport in one place.
 
Also come on... you gotta respect just a tiny bit that we'd build a system that blasts a complaint about our site right to the top of the homepage.

Its not like you'd see the cover of Freeskier as a complaint about their mag.

But yes, some of the content in the articles I've been uploading is absolute shit - but on the flipside, a TON of people have been checking them out. It could be because they are non-skiers, it could be because they simply want to get a glimpse into the mainstream's coverage, it could be because they want to read the general public's comments... or maybe they are skiers and genuinely care that Miley tweeted Gus. To each their own. Either way, the traffic we've been getting could mean running the producer program longer, or upping our news / journalist budget.

There's a reason we allow people to downvote content & upload their own. If you don't like something, downvote it. You're a pro skier and have the power to get something to the top in no time. Flood the homepage with a few new clips, an old edit, an embedded news article you enjoyed, an interesting discussion, etc. and we'll push it out via our social feeds and newsletter -- like we did with your last edit.

You have more power to change the home page than the people you are calling out do.

 
the site is on point. peeps agreeing with lafa are core skiers, the rest are taking a break from twit/facefoose.

the community used to be entirely hard core skiers, and now its not, thus the change in appetite as a "democracy"

the next generation will have its own style, and taste, in skiing and news.

could there be an option of what page is your home. whether it be news, or forums or pics...and since opinions are always valid (whether they are bad or not) I have always felt the need for a separation of "pros", not just a color in screen name, but an entire arena for pros to interact and post with transparency to the public without interruption.
