I've got a 2004 Ultrasport A4. Fully Built 2.0L Big turbo. I was running a garret gt2871r but last week it started loosing boost and not building correctly. She's now out of commission for a few weeks while I get the parts to put a gt3071r in there. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Planning to run a mellow tune around 15psi on the new GT3076r for the fall and winter (hopefully a little over 300awhp) and then amping it up in the spring.

Thanks, really wish it was perfect ahaha. Many little things need to be done along with the turbo and a re-route of the coolant lines. Plan on ripping out the rear seats and doing a half-cage and dropping some bucket seats in the front. Supposed to be every 100 pounds you drop is 3% added boost pressure, so I'll be going for some weight reduction in the spring.

Possibly, but there aren't really any good tracks near me, I'de love to take it to limerock or something though. Mostly just a build for daily use and fun.

Nice, theres one in the works in Tamworth NH I believe that looks awesome with some great views of northern NH. The bad part is its a "country club" so Im pretty sure its gonna be very expensive. Right now its basically a rally stage, which Id be fine with.

Good to hear, I drove past on my way to forest rally in July and the progress looked good! Its not in a busy area but theres stuff around it. Id totally go there when I get a "cool" car

I just hope it's not going to be rediculously expensive to go for a day. Could organize and NS track day ahahaha. Everyone in the area with a decent whip has to be there.

NHMS does auto-x in the parking lots and I believe they have a few make shift tracks that go in and out of the oval as well

I'd go occasionally but if I'm going up north I'm going on dirt roads in the middle of the woods. Not a big track but still looks fun as hell

Well over here in vt we got plenty of dirt roads in the middle of the woods ahah, in fact I live off of one. Just makes my car dirty and muddy. Only fun thing is I can break all 4 tires loose 1st through 3rd gear no problem for a little drift action.

Yeah I have some in southern NH but most have houses on them, I'm a big rally guy. VT seems like its good for rally. I can imagine that car would be a blast on any surface.

Sold the 4runner on Sunday and picked this up same day. I absolutely love it so far. Runs great, has awesome fuel economy (40mpg is a nice change from 12-13) and is super comfortable. Next step is a rack.

I live in a small city with a massive immigrant population (largely African and Asian) and most of them are terrible, terrible drivers. The don't signal. They turn from the wrong lane. They don't know how four way stops work. They drive way too slow. It's awful.

From what I understand, it sounds like the big things to watch out for in the n/a engine are the water pump/thermostat and the ignition coils. I'm sure there will be other things (it IS a BMW after all...). Ha ha.

Oh probably. That definitely sounds BMWish. Ha ha. I know they've got some stupid things like if you need to replace the battery, you need to bring it in so all the coding can be reset (unless I pick up a coder).

Keep an eye on your AFR's & fuel pressure psi. BMW's are notoriously finicky with the HPFP.

If you ever notice it takes a long time to start, it is your fuel pressure regulator in your tank(200 dollar fix DIY)

this thing fuckin rules, i don't even care if i cant mod it out or whatever. a ski rack, plenty of ground clearance, decent 4WD, and OK gas MPG's is good enough for me.

Then we have a 2008 subaru outback 2.5xt limited, has just under 90k on it, it's loaded, leather seats and all and is about 8500. it's an automatic.

Id say manual just for the fun of it, plus I feel like both are as good as eachother and youll save a couple grand to do fun stuff to it. I love the look of that outback too.

I sincerely hope you are budgeting an amount equal to the asking price of the car for repairs within the first full year of ownership. I would personally stay away from both of those unless your father owns a repair shop.

When it comes to a modded pos wrx owned by a 19 year old I get shy its stupid to buy it but most people that buy these service them properly and make sure they rub well and that's why they're the people that say that subarus will last forever. As long as its proven to the buyer that it'll run reliably for as long as possible then its fine.

Yeah that's always been in my head while Ive been looking at these. One of my friend's dad actually owns a repair shop that specializes in subarus so I'm gonna have them go check the car out with me and see if it's a good buy or not. I understand what you're saying.

IF the timing belt/associated pulleys and what not have not been replaced yet on those you will need to do that soon subaru recomends doing so at 105k miles. So just keep that in mind and having a mechanic look at it is a great idea.

Actually, in this instance I do have some idea what I'm talking about. Family has owned several Outbacks from new to past 100,000. The repairs necessary once they hit the 100,000 mark were ridiculous, and any Subaru repairs are 2-5 times what they are on a Nissan or Ford. Subarus are also difficult to repair oneself, and even basic mechanics can have difficulties.

They are great ski cars, and great cars all-around. I loved taking them on roadtrips and sleeping in them. However, with the price of new Outbacks having climbed significantly, I shy away from them now. Also, for whatever reason, Subaru does not seem to know how to make a clutch. I've driven manual my entire life, and out of the 4-5 Subarus my family has owned, all but one of them has shifted like absolute shit. This includes the brand new one the family just got.
