Too bad they are so slow, my 1991 VW Jetta n/a is faster than my friends 2013 Subaru Impreza Sport, he also has the CVT, so pretty much is driving around a dildo. But he's done some mods to it to make it sound faster, to bad it doesn't chance it's performance a bit.

Yeah my friend has one and he's got an exhaust (sounds like ass) but he's got some interior lighting, new shift knob, yellow fogs, black wheels and a blacked out grille and it looks sick but that's it, not fast and sounds gross but looks mint

My friend paid someone to take off the resonator and muffler and put a magnaflow muffler on. It's god awful. He also has plastidipped everything there is to plastidip, except brake calipers, which may be his problem, red brake calipers add 50 whp

Yeah it's not a nice sound but looks nice, NA subarus either need a low key exhaust or Uel headers. A kid I know use to have a Hawkeye impreza, he blacked the tail lights stupidly black (the car itself is black) then got a cheap ass axle back fart can, wrx steering wheel, wrx hood, red rally armors and drove it like a manual, some kids just go to far. He also got multiple tickets for racing his friends in their built wrxs going 100-115 and now he has an old 533i

So my magnaflow catback failed inspection even though I still have the cat, resonator, and muffler. Apparently its not a chambered muffler and to pass inspection it needs to be. Sounds like some mechanic BS. Anyone have a problem like this?

Do you still have the oem system?, because usually it's just easier to swap in the oem than try to argue with the fuckwits at most emissions places

Nope I was an idiot and tossed it. But its not an emissions problem, they are claiming its a noise problem...

The only thing NH gives a damn about with exhausts is having a straight through exhaust, thats why my brother put silencers in his vibrant muffler, he too has a cat and a resonator.

And Im pretty sure thats what magnaflows are. Do silencers really work? Do you know what brand he used or just the cheap ebay ones? Im not trying to get a new muffler here to pass inspection.

They certainly do work it made a big difference in sound. Ill ask him where he got them, his muffler has two 3" tips and he just hammered them in so they wont be easy to get out. I wonder if maybe a place like Lous custom could make them for you. Ill ask him where to find them when he wakes up.

Word cause I have two 3" tips as well. That would save me a lot of $$$ and headache

Yeah at low speeds it sounds kinda crappy but inside and outside when he floors it it sounds cool, more engine noise of the 4g63 when inside and just a cool sound when you hear it from the outside, the vr will probably still sound good.

Yeah im probs gonna try and take them out after haha. This whole straight through law is fucking stupid. If it was chambered it would pass, even if it was louder. So dumb.

Move to Colorado they give zero fucks out here

I have a catback magnaflow with just resonatoes on my 2.0T and passed NH inspection in less than 5 minutes. I guess it just depends on who you go to

i'd try to go to a smaller place where they might be a little more lenient. sound like the dude who did the inspection was biased against loud exhausts

He says he got them from the UK and they took 2 weeks... Im sure you can find something online though. The law is so stupid

So I was just watching the Top Gear perfect road trip and I noticed that when Hammond was in the 2015 stingray it was the 7 speed manual but the steering wheel had paddles on it? Why?

if i remember correctly, the paddles on the manual operate the rev matching on/off? or something random and stupid like that

rev matching on/off

Ok thanks, that seems kinda silly to me.

Hmmm probs what Im gonna do. I do think the VR might be a little louder than a 2.0t but yeah this seems like BS. My buddy recommended a place so Im gonna check it out. Im just afraid to keep driving, already got two tickets (and most likely 4 points on my license) so Im trying to be careful and limit my driving.

I just don't get how fucking Subaru kids are passing inspection they all seem to run 4" N1 exhausts that are sometimes catless too.

I believe the 370z does that as well

I was actually just reading about it while on the topic of auto rev matching.

The 370 does, and it's on/off is in the centre column haha. Much more reasonable of a location than wasting paddle shifters on that

perfect skimobile. 5 speed or auto? I used to have a 5 speed forester and it was awesome

5 speed. Also the 02 in the background is for sale if anyone wants it.

Stoked on this one though. Body is in really really great shape and only 105k miles.

Hoping it lasts a long time. Want to get a few year and a shit ton of miles out of it. Maybe take it to the pacific northwest and alaska eventually.

Finally got to drive a manual on the road tonight, friends new Volvo 850, super fun car and the inline 5 sounds excellent! Hopefully I can drive it more and make it become second nature. Only stalled once, wasn't really paying attention and let out to soon.

Yeah, it get's pretty normal. Honestly get weirded out some times driving auto. I'm like wtf oh yeah it's an auto.

Every car is a little different but if you get one, once you get a feel for where the clutch engages and how it shifts, as well as shifting through the gears in general it's not even anything you think about.

You can get some killer gas mileage as well. Also having control over the vehicle is nice. Especially in winter.

Driving in traffic blows though.

Nothing worse than a standard in start stop traffic for a few hours. Especially if you have long legs. You get all cramped up and it's no fun. I've stopped and opened my door to stretch my legs many times in traffic. Only time I'm like "Fuck, I wish I had an auto"

Thats what my friend told me, even when hes driven baked its still as simple as driving auto, luckily there wasnt traffic since it was at night but Im sure Ill drive it some more in busier situations.

Sometimes I hop in other peoples cars and stomp on the brake with my left foot when I go to start it. I'm like oh yeah it's an auto my left foot gets to chill.

Lol ive done that. The mini van my mom had had this super wide brake. Def borrowed it a few times and screetched to a stop thinking i was pushing the clutch in lol. Felt smart

when I drive an auto I have to wedge my left foot under the seat to keep it from going for clutch

Well, finally got my car up and running the other day. Buttoning up wiring and making axles now. But here is just after the first start with a little mild anti lag. Tuned and built by me completely.
