both. my kinda trail turned into a river crossing which was ok with me cuz i had already forded it 3 times, but i took a shitty angle and hit a pool right off the bank and slid right in. to COskier no, it had to be winched out with a come along. because the sheriff got to it before i did. assholes...

not hating on your car letting you know its a solid car gets you from a to b or whatever you do with it...
but i hate people who drive this car and freak thef uck out over it. OMG its a fucking mk2 what a sick car. Nah its a peice of shit...idc if you raise it, lower it, has 100000000 horsepower...in the end , your driving an mk2 and in the end no one cares becuse it fucken sucks. Its like people who drive hondas, whatever you do to them..in the end its still a honda.

they aren't bad cars, at all (especially when modded well).

Its the general car itself and the shti i hear about people driving this car all the time. An mk2 is a solid car nothing wrong with it. Its people who freak out saying it sshte greatest car alive...like in the dream car thread when people are like oh a stanced mk2 is my dream car...yea sweet bro doubt it. I cant even explain my hatred towards rice burners and modders god dam .
 
"stanced" cars is a style. for some, the simplicity of a mk2 (well modded, of course) is the epitome of the trend. why bash somebody for their subjective view?
the truth is, people say "the shti" about driving ANY make/model of car. it's what happens when you are enthusiastic towards a certain car (mk2 VW's included). the fact that you ridicule people for liking/lusting for one of these is laughable . At least they are being realistic. ("yea sweet bro doubt it") who are you to say?

I made a completely valid point. and actually, I was trying to stick up for somebody that was being flamed for no reason.
Should I not be an arbiter in automotive taste, as my car is almost always unanimously deemed "done right" by any form of car enthusiast? (and really, for the sake of this argument, I'm not intentionally try to come off as self-righteous..)

replace mk2 with subaru impreza and that is how I feel about every ns car thread. (Also share your hate of ricers and maodders, but do like the mk2 if you dont over do it)

but in all likelihood im going to end up buying a porsche 911 - had my eye on a 993 on the other side of town- test drive it- explained to the guy what was wrong with the car(radiator is shot, control arms have seen better days as with the bushings)- wouldn't budge on price- now he is willing to move after he realized no body would pay that crazy of a price
 
either one is a solid choice. 993 chasis are cock suckers for working on, just a warning. To do an oil change on one alone, its so shitpacked into the engine bay you need to pull off wheel liners and fight with it to get the filter out. 993 turbo? What about the civic, what motor?
 
you seem as you like to think you know more than you actually do. Just an observation. You are right for saying the dude ripping on mk2 vws is a tool for just out and out claiming in a thread meant for members to show their cars to the forum, so i applaud you for that.
 
993 carrera- 3.6
and the civic is k20 with 468 whp at 19psi- motor is built for 30+- can run high 10s- all done by a local shop
honestly im probably doing the 993 or an e36 m3- im looking for something to get me through the last couple of years of college that I can still afford and then after school turn it into a monster- my issue is I have so many ideas from stanced out to trying drifting to building another track car- no one particular area is the best for me -
also ill be in town for the montreal gp this summer if your gonna be out and around
 
Im on the fence about montreal GP, i live in west canada... i might be banking that cash to go to monaco gp next year.

My old friend at work had a 3.6 with straight exhausts and intakes and holy fuck did that ever put the exhaust of a cammed v8 to shame. 993 is a great mix of long term driveability and performance, I dont think i could sit down town in one though... the clutch is naturally too stiff for my DD liking and can be a bit cumbersome to sit in for extended periods of time. None the less, 993 are fucking badass cars. I Was eyeing up an idea to get a 996 c4s in a couple years but I figure ill end up with a 355/348 or a nsx-t. I do love my k20 car though, such a perfect engine from engineering standpoint, so much fun to daily drive... atleast take it for a rip. Out of the 3 cars you are scoping out, the least fav of mine is the e36, it just didnt do it for me when I drove one... e46 was fairly fun though. Let me know if you need any factory info for your car like torque specs and wiring diagrams, can snag them from work.
 
i'll be about as far away from alberta as i can be in a few days... i just had to replace my rear struts and coils. argh i fucking hate this car, i've thrown way too much money at it over the past few months.. but hey i guess i pretty much have a mechanically new car. i am however having a horrible time trying to find that socket. i think what i'm going to do is move the right one over to the left one to see if that is indeed the problem before dealing with it further. if that is the case can you keep your eye out for one for me? i looked on concept1 but didn't really know what i was looking for.

i love how that guy was bitching about done up mk2s... mine isn't even done up. its a piece of shit that i use to get up to ski thats all. i have done ABSOLUTELY nothing to mod it. haha my doors don't even fucking lock.
 
You know, much of what I say on NS regarding cars is
a- dripping with sarcasmb- heavily simplified c- kept to very general terms/concepts

NS is very far from a definitive source of car knowledge and experience, and I treat it as such.

Dream car? The car is 30 grand. Far from a "dream car"..... I'd be posting Lambos and Ferraris and Astons if that were the case. But fair enough, you're right. I don't own it yet. Pardon my excitement of buying a car. I'll be back to post pics next week when it's officially mine.
