Newschoolers, Lets see your Whips!

I'm not saying that only fords can go the distance, it just gets frustrating when people trash them constantly. I like dodges a lot, I'm not a chevy person merely because I don't like the way they drive, they feel too much like a car for me. I'm hoping mine makes it to a million, the way its been running, I think it might.

I also like Toyota trucks a lot, they're just not practical for what I do. I tow 8 horse trailers up mtn roads all summer and haul a lot of heavy machinery and other large objects so a half ton truck is not a good choice for me. If I did want something smaller I would definitely choose a Toyota though.

i can understand that. my yota soon will be strictly for wheeling and trail riding, its light enough to float over a lot of the deep shit but got enough horse to get me through. if i were to get a hauling truck though it wouldnt be a toyota, not even those new tundras. a big ford would be an easy choice, but im more of a dodge guy and for something like that id have to side with a cummins..even though i fucking hate diesel

If I had to choose a new truck I would also go with Dodge. The new Fords have all sorts of issues. My dad has an '08 and before we took the factory exhaust off, it had so many problems. We would be driving up a hill and it would lose all power, we would be struggling to go 40 mph when we should have easily been going 70. We took the dual exhaust off and chipped it and now it runs fine (but it won't pass emissions, yay farm plates). And the newest Fords don't come with a stick, major deal breaker there.

yeah for sure. theres no reason to haul in an automatic, the tranny itself forces a huge power loss. ive always driven an automatic but im switching my 4runner to manny this weekend or next, and the power ill gain in the tranny will be noticable even in my little 3.0

new fords dont come with a manual option because of a pretty advanced engine break. towed our stock trailer with 6 nags and the 09' did very well down decent grades

People are actually able to stick a manual in there pretty easily, I know several guys who bought the '11s and put the manuals from the '10s in there and have no issues. Its just a shame that you can't get them from Ford that way.

Ya you are right with that stuff. I forgot to mention that his reasoning was that he said the '90s ford trucks had a rust problem. Correct me if I am but didn't toyota recall all their tacomas from that time?

its a dodge 1500. But that thing has had problems since day one so it would not surprise me if there was something with the engine that was killin the gas mileage

whats the deal with the ecotec f150's. not towing anything crazy. just a motorcyle in the bed. i want a truck, but can i at least get some good fuel economy? then they have the silverado hybrids, but those are $$$$ frontier and tacoma also an option!

I bought the rims off craigslist with the lip. I hate it and I'm refinishing them a gunmetal color soon. The wheels are silver underneath and the guy just stopped painting at the lip and the factory silver is showing. So I guess he just taped it off.

Depends on what you take as good fuel economy. For a fullsize truck i consider anything around 18+ pretty damn good. 15 isnt even all that bad.

and with 0% apr for 5 years there has never been a better time to buy! If I could justify it in anyway I would love get one. but, nothing to tow, nothing to haul; a new truck would only prolong those situations

Just watched something on tv bout the ecotec also. Ford torture tested one engine and put about 160,000 miles on it in a matter of a couple months, dropped the temperature in the engine to -20 then brought it up to 220 while it was still running and did this multiple times. Then they placed the same engine in a ford rally truck which finished first in its class in the baja 1000

and after all that took it apart in front of a live audience of people at a car show to prove to them the engine was in like new condition with minimal wear and only a 1 horsepower drop and no torque drop. they also had it tow a trailer up a hill and while doing this race up a ram and silverado with the same trailers and it beat them by a ton

sounds good. we'll see what nissan and toyota have up their sleeve since everyone is on the fuel efficient wagon now. a diesel tacoma would be sweet, but i think we would see it in the tundra/titan first.

Peugeot partner
6l/100km (around 50 mpg )
more than enough room for ski-crap, if i put the skibox on the roof, it can fit 5 pairs of fatskis, 4+1 ppl and luggage for a week of skiing :)
if i fold away the backseats it's deep enough to put a mattres in and you can easily sleep in it with 2 persons....
also got front wheel drive and winter tires, the thing hasn't let me down in the alps yet :)

also the rear door/trunk opens upwards so if i go surfing/skiing/rockclimbing/diving on a rainy day, i have a small porch to stand out of the rain :)
