if you actually do that to your car....going to look like the ultimate tool mobile. How about keeping that money, or better, upgrade the engine. Stancing cars is so dumb. I truly dont understand this fad
 


intake and exhaust is already done, not much you can really do with the 3.0L v6 that they put in em. and stanced cars=Jizz in my pants.

bore, turbo, ecu, i can think of hundreds of things you could do... just because it doesn't look like it can be done underhood doesn't mean it can't. just gotta get creative, maybe move a couple things around to fit a couple other things. just because the battery/alternator/whatever is where it is underhood doesn't mean that's where it has to stay. so long as you rearrange things properly, it will all still work the same.

give it some thought. not saying don't stance it, as I don't mind the look of a stanced car. what i am saying is that you could make a killer sleeper if you really wanted to spend money underhood.

cost of stancing a car- depending on wheels and coils or bags anywhere from 1k to 5k with a set of badass wheels
cost of turboing a car that is not a popular platform with no available kits lets see
custom manifold and exhuastturboall turbo necessitiesfuelingclutch and flywheelstandalone ecuand paying someone to do all this work and figure out and build a reliable setup
you would be lucky if you could get it done for under 11 grand
and you would still have a prototype style setup with no proven reliablilty
and thats not even building the motor- sleeves, rods and pistons, reworking the head- on a car not normally worked on- at least another 3k

no ecu upgrades for that engine, making turboing a pain in the ass with the stock computer, same goes for boreing, although, iy would be quite interesting to see if it would be possible to do a drivetrain swap with a mazdaspeed mazda 6, then it would become AWD

 
i never said it was economical. not once. and i know all that's necessary, so don't try to put me down while acting smart.

i was just saying that anything is possible, as opposed to the claim that not much can be done to the v6 he's got. have a good time why don't you.

don't call me an idiot for having some fun imagination. and besides, budgeting for that sort of thing over a period of time is perfectly realistic if you're willing to take enough time. my cousin and i have a 5-10 year project on the go, in which we're completely overhauling the 396 on our 1965 stingray, with a twin turbo end result. all work in-house, all trials in-house. /claim

haha, seriously a lot goes into doing up a motor proper, and unless its something thats commonly built its not like theres an aftermarket already established, AND its not like its an old carbed small block chevy or something, these modern engines have a little more going on that you need to be aware of, which increases costs.

 
This is true. There are many more electronic systems in new cars, but these can be worked on too if you can source some of the electronic tools as well. For my car (2000 LR P38A) I was able to download the RAVE mechanics manual, and source a copy of the diagnostic and reprogramming system from a shop. Now I can also do most of the electric stuff at home as well. I took out the air suspension system a while ago and replaced it with coils. Took some time to reprogram the BeCM so that it was no longer looking for the electronic air suspension system, but once that was fixed it worked like a charm. Height sensors still provide feedback, but they're no longer connected to the compressor system. I'll post pics soon when It's not shitty and raining outside.
 
My whip up until a month ago. She had to much rust and wasnt worth the money. it makes me really sad because i had the spacers and longer lugs but never bothered to put them on because i knew i would never drive it again.

And this picture was taken before i had my vr lip on. I loved that car. maybe ill get another when im out of college. I was at about 3/4 of an inch form oilpan.

also got a 1986 gmc sierra 1500 shot box stepside. orriginal engine started knocking. so i built a new engin for it. she cranks out about 450 hp. scary fast!!!
 
for a full size truck thats really not that fast.

and I thought id let this threads followers know that I am on the look out for something to build for autocross

my 72 chevy puts out over 400 hp, and it isn't fast, it's sorta quick, but i wouldnt say its fast. faster than a stock z28 camaro though haha
 
My little shitbox that's coming with me to college. Its a good car, consistently gets between 31-34 mpg, AWD and easy to fix.

My whip as of today:

-Put a new set of tyres on a while ago. 265/75/16 BFG AT's. Got a set of KM2's on the way, but these work much better for daily drivers.

-OME 779 and 751 Springs, with Terrafirma shocks and Carroll Rovers sway-bar disconnects.

-Rock-rails and undercarriage armour

I have to lower my TC to ease up the angle of the front driveshaft at the moment. Eventually I'll grab a proper driveshaft, but until then, this is a quicker fix. I also did some exhaust work earlier this summer.

I'll keep you posted.
