Newschoolers giveaway

Recently there was a Icelandic x newschoolers ski giveaway which I won which made me super stoked (here’s proof)

1075548.jpegunfortunately because I’m a minor they refused to give them to me which is really disappointing. The dude running the giveaway said “legally” he can’t do it but this is simply untrue as with a parental signature it’s completely fine (which I offered to do or even do it in a parent’s name). If newschoolers didn’t want anyone under 18 entering they could have made a limit on the age box when you enter which is required to fill out to sign up. There is no clear writing of a rule saying no minors so they should honor their giveaway and provide the skis or not even select someone who is a minor in the first place. Sorry for ranting but newschoolers isn’t gonna change in the future unless people know about this. Thoughts?

Time to email that dude from an Alt account like adultskier28@gmail.com or something and ask if they have any free pairs laying around as the result of potential minors winning the giveaway

There's no fine print anywhere? I bet you just scroll thru and accept terms and conditions without reading them too, you animal

Mf is the NS project manager and has the word “ski” in his last name. Core af. You don’t stand a chance op. You’re best option is to buy the pair of Atomic STH 16 bindings im selling on my profile instead. Its like winning a giveaway except you pay me $300 and I win too.

NS doesn't make the rules, the corporate parent company makes the rules, always gotta keep that in mind.

Truth is, about 80% of NS daily visitors are over 18 and it's probably more expensive/more liability/more work to allow under 18 to enter into giveaways. Thats why its also USA only. NS would love to give away shit to everyone in the world of any age, but unfortunately its not that simple.

Legally they would be able to with a parent or guardian’s signature right? Idk if that really costs money but if it’s not newschoolers fault that sucks

To you, that might seem like the case, but when you add anything to a giveaway/contract, it goes through the entire legal team, rules and such need to be re-written, etc.

The parent company has a template for giveaways that is approved by their company lawyers and is there to protect the parent company. When you have these large corporations, its very difficult to push past the red tape and NS can't do anything but follow the rules the parent company puts in place.

Unless it specifically states minors can enter and receive prizes with a legal guardian’s signature then it is not applicable. For instance I’m sure you’ve entered something before where it makes you agree that you are over 18 and of legal age to apply in your state etc.

Nice number

Literally every contest in the history of ever would describe it in the official rules aka fine print, and yes you would have checked this box.

To your point though to prevent any confusion, yes ns should autoreject any under age entries.

You're still a dumbass for not reading the rules. I hope this is a valuable life lesson to always read the fine print. Better learned now than being a dumbass signing up for a variable rate utility bill or mortgage without understanding the fine print.

L take if you're entering a free giveaway I’m not going to read the long ass rules but if I’m spending hard earned money on something then I am. Plus we all know they just put them there instead of directly on the page for that reason.

Wouldn't go that far. Yeah he's not getting screwed out of his free skis but its not cool to tell the kid he won when his age was already submitted just to revoke it like that. At least make it very clear its 18+, auto-disqualify them, or AT LEAST double check the age before sending the congrats email. Winning a giveaway like this is a dream come true for a kid without money/job. I think NS should somehow make it right. ^this comment is just obnoxious

There is no world where NS is in the wrong, the rules are very clear, op did not read them.

Y'all are both in the wrong.

Op for not reading the official rules, but in his defense, most people don't (cough cough apple users)

NS for creating a form that doesn't auto reject based on age. That's lazy programming. That type of feature is common. Then not double checking age before sending "you won" email. Rather they waited for the sponsor to find the error....come on.

you wanna give NS some cash to pay for the development? its a literal google form. this is such a bad take, everyone thinks you can just "fix" something but fixing shit costs money, money NS doesn't have. Its another case of ignorance, but its upsetting y'all cant figure it out.

I thought you aren't part of the business side of things, so how would you know?

Also lol this would take probably a few thousand in man hours from some programmer to resolve.

I know the search bar sucks here but this took me all of 2min to find

Bruh if you think a small website is getting anything but bare minimum from a large corporation you're fucking bonkers.
