Newschoolers Career

How long do you guys see yourself on Newschoolers.com? Do you think you'll be 40 and still bashing on Newbs and complaining about Vitamin Water ads?

Or are you going to wake up one morning, reach for your Mac and say, hmm, I don't feel like checking Newschoolers.com today?

I get it, I think that we are the first generation to use it it will always be young hip and cool for us, but when we are like 40, all the new generation kids will think its an old man skiing site.

My prediction is that as people grow up they will start frequenting different parts of the site such as cults, reading powder magazine for a more rounded "lean back" experience, and continuing to browse newschoolers to look at content just not post as much.

Remember, its been 12 years since it started, and we've already processed through one generation of skiers. Some people do leave, some of them do go to other forums, but plenty of them still cruise by to see whats happening or simply look at some solid newschool content.

Hell, I'm 32, and though I no longer slay the forums like I used to, I'm constantly reading news, looking at photos, videos, reviews... etc. Sure I work here, but my habits simply shift. Forums are only like 40% of the site anyways, there's lots of other stuff in here to enjoy.

i figure ill be around for awhile, but even now ive been going on NS less and care less about checking shit. I tend to get more pissed off at NS on a daily basis too, but i think im just getting older.

Ya I have been here for almost 5 years and have seen a massive switch in the generation of skiers. I was a sort of young kid when I joined, that all the older members probably hated and now it is completely different.

I am sure that a lot of the NSG kids will grow up and stop their shenanigans and then a whole new generation of NSG kids will rise.

I think I've been here long enough that i can somewhat comment on this...

When i first hit NS (which was really sometime in 03 or 04, but I didn't join right away) I spent most of my time in ski gabber, reading about new movies or looking at pictures and news. Mostly because NS was literally the only such source with skiing information.

Then over time I went into NSG more often, and lost interest in the photos.

Due to various things I havent been as active a skier I have in the past, so because of that I avoid posting in SG simply because I'm out of the loop. I read it daily, but don't post. NSG is where i do most of my posting, but even then I've noticed I post less and think more before i do.

And now I also browse the pictures and videos more, partially because the new update to that section is awesome!

I hope to still be checking the forums once in awhile when i'm like 28ish? I'll probably grow out of it though around 23 maybe. One time my friend introduced me to ns when helping me build a summer setup and I'm wondering if that was for the better or worse. I spend over 2 hours a day on here but i love it so much (yes, homo) Sometimes I'd just like to see what my life would be like without it. I feel like it has affected many aspects of my life e.g. clothing (call me a trendwhore if you wish)

I'm going to write down that at this particular how hated I was, then when I'm older the new batch of youngins will be waiting to get shat on.

I figure as long as I am still involved in skiing I will still be interested in NS. My life and career is skiing, so I can't see myself leaving anytime too soon.

ya newschoolers has changed big time over the years imagine the forums without memes..pretty crazy eh
but i never plan on leaving newschoolers its just too legit
