Newschool Discount?!?!

I went to the sign of the skier in Toronto and i was gonna buy some skis and i asked if they had any discounts and hte said it was only for racers. (racer's discount card) that shit is so gay! Why cant newschool skiers get discount for bringing a face lift to such an ahsome sport. How are people supposed to get interested in this 'new' sport if prices are gonna be so high? what do you think? any else heard of this type of discount?

 
A pair of Public Enemies cost $350US, a pair of race skis cost $600-$800US, I would say we're getting the better end of the deal on that one.

Basically, you want a discount for having signed up for a FREE newschoolers.com membership? You're an idiot. Racers get deal because they spend tens of thousands per year on shit like gear, travelling expenses, coaching, etc.

i'll tell you why! in ontario, specifically the georgian bay area of hills, there are more private clubs than public clubs. because of this there is a fuckload more money there. where there's money there's racers and racing gear is a shitload more expensive than freeski gear. store competition is so tight in the GTA that stores need to give themselves an edge. the edge they need is to draw in the people with the big time dollars (aka racers). they could really give a fuck less about newschool shit. if you read the latest issue of SBC Skier there's a whole section about the freeski movement in ontario and how it's nowhere near up to par with that of any other province in canada. since racers have more money, they will always be dominant in ontario and stores want their money so they'll always try new things to get them into the stores!

actually, newschool like discounts are poping up everywhere. See, the thing is discounts are for people who belong to some sort of group, not just some shumk from ns.com. If your part of a freeride program at your local hill, (which seem to be becoming more and more popular) and your whole team shops at a certain shop, then your an applicant for a discount. thats why racers get discounts, theres a big group of them and they all go to certian shops.

i dont know why everyones gotta rip on racers. if you're so set on getting your discount, work at a mtn and pro form stuff through the mtn reps. not that tough to do
