NewOnline Alpha Test

You may have noticed a little link at the very bottom of the online window that says NewOnline Alpha Test. Click that link to turn your online window into a Flash 'applet'.

With the new Flash movie, instead of a PHP page, the online list can reload without having to refresh the page! This makes it possible to refresh the list and check for messages much faster and more importantly, makes it possible to get rid of the frames!! This is really good as it allows a completely fluid redesign of the site. The Online window won't be seperate anymore, but just a little section within each page. If you don't know what I mean, just wait cause I'll be working on it tomorrow.

For now, if you want to press on the NewOnline Alpha Test link at the bottom of the online window and leave any feedback that you have, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, that is pretty nice, I like that. I dunno about the purple arrows but other than that it looks reallllly good.

I posted this up earlier, but the post disappeared, weird. Well anyways, I think it would be sweet if the Online List went all the way down to where it says Logout|Home. How will you adjust your status (away, invisible) with the new system?

Yeah you posted that in the other thread... the reason it doesn't go all the way down is because it's actually made to fit into a new layout which might be unveiled tonight around midnight.. no idea if it'll actually work, but we'll see... but yeah, that's why its size is static.

As for the scrolling: I will definitelly increase the speed cause it's way too slow.. also, once the new layout is working fine, I'm going to try to add a scroll bar to it so it'll work just like its own little window.. shouldn't be hard to do, it'll just take time.

And there will be links under the online window to change your status and will report on how many people are online jsut like it does now.

So yeah, just note that the flash online window isn't meant to fit into this layout, it has been designed for the new one.

HAHA! Well, I uploaded the new layout, and the site completely exploded.. much worse than expected... I think I know how to fix everything though, so I'll give it another go tomorrow.

alrightm that sounds great matt...if you need any help with flash coding, www.ultrashock.com is by far the most helpful site... all the professional flash designers are on the message board.
