Newbie Question

I have been skiing for about 8 years now. I am interested in finally buying my own equipment and quit renting. I was wondering if it is really worth the extra 200 to 400 dollars to take my boots to a boot fitter, when I only going skiing about once or twice a year for about a day at a time. you should buy last years boots at a good shop during the summer. youll get a good price and hopefully a good fit if its a good shop
 
if you already have the boot shells, a lot of ski shops can make you a custom insole for around 100-150 dollars which would be highly recommended. its pretty cheap and totally worth it.
 
Well naw i havent bought my boots yet. I priced some at the ski shop for around 200, and the salesman was trying to get me to let him fit them for me for another 200 dollars. I just didnt know if it was worth that for the little bit of time i ski.
 
thats a rip off. if the dude is selling you boots the most they should charge you to fit is a bench fee - like 50 bucks. 200 bucks is way cheap for boots so i assume theyre kinda shitty in the first place. no way in hell you should pay 200 bucks to get fitted though.
 
Not tryin to be a dick, but seriously, if you only ski 2 days a year, shin bang/foot discomfort won't be that severe. Buy boots that fit and be done with it. 2 days of skiing won't fuck up you're feet that badly...
 
Yeah man i live in NC and where i ski only has like 15 trails so really aint much skiing to be done. Thats why i didnt know if it was really worth spending alot of money. The boots i priced are Dalbello aerro 70's they had them for half off. The sales man was saying i needed to have them fitted. And that was 125 a your then he adds for everything he has to punch and heat so he said about 200 dollars. Just didnt think i needed all of that done for 1 or 2 days a year of skiing. Thanks for the help
 
your hill has 12 more runs then mine, thats sad seeing as i live in AK. im pretty sure you dont NEED to have them fitted especially for not making it up to the slopes more then once or twice a year.
 
at my shop, if you buy the boot from us we fit it for free. you just pay the price for insoles ( or shims/foam..etc.)
