New Zealand Snow

What’s the snow like in Nz compared to Europe?

I’m planning to do a season in Treblecone.

I’ve got a pair of Line Sir Francis Bacon’s 178cm 104 underfoot but not sure if I should buy an All Mountain ski with a smaller underfoot? Somebody told me that my skis won’t be enjoyable to ride in Nz snow regardless of ability.

They'll be fine. When the snow is good at TC the place is sick! In general NZ won't get as much snow as europe but the terrain and vibes are next level. Skiing at TC and living in Wanaka is about as good as it gets for a southern hemi winter

Thanks man! May buy a second hand pair of park skis to ride when the snow is bad! Would you say TC is one of the better ski fields in Nz?

was at mt hut all last season

off piste is rarely good.

park is amazing in all souithern island resorts

and theres lots of girls in queenstown.

go to cowboys

As said 104 will be fine for at tc, don’t think they have a park up there but it’s a great mountain for freeriding. Motatapu chutes are sick on a powder day. Wanaka is a cool wee town too, some good bars etc

Enjoy man! Skis should be fire, plus if you've ever done any touring there is a lot of cool stuff. Motatapu Chutes are legendary and have killer pucker factor

Sweeeeet! I don’t really ride park anyway so that’s cool!

I’ve never toured before but it’s something I want to do if I have money to splash on gear! Will you be out for the winter?

It's super possible to bootpack a lot of the "sidecountry" stuff TC has, fortunately, so don't necessarily need skins. Avi gear is always recommended though haha. Unfortunately, I won't be in NZ though unless something really good happens haha. I just spent a year in college living in Dunedin and skiing TC

Yeah I think it’s about time I invested in avi gear as well as paying to do a course! Aghhh that sucks man! Where are you from?

I would say TC is the best ski field in NZ. No park but best terrain. Snow is probably more consistently good than other places too.
