New Video "Emptiness" Comments Appreciated

I made a video out of some of the shots I got from small towns in Colorado and also filmed at Colorado University during the school's Spring Break. The video consists of a lot of Time-Lapses as well as realtime shots. It was amazing how quiet the CU Campus was when I shot there, and I am glad that I took full advantage of it.

definitely not your best work IMO. it got better as I kept watching, but something seemed a little off the whole time. the frame tended to be very busy throughout, especially the (which I realize you cant control) electric and phone wires in the first shots. I think the timelapse of the houses on the dirt road would have been soooo dope if there were no wires there.

I also felt like too much wide angle was used, or that you could have used something not as wide and gotten better results. How wide is the lens you were using for a lot of those lapses?

not sure how I feel about the music either.
 
I liked the vibe, definitely knew what you were trying to do and I like it. Some shots were fair, good, and dope. For me I really liked it @ 1:14 with the flowers, editing wise it was creative to go from a timelapse where you changed focus to that pan shot. Then the fisheye pan was something I've never really seen and the transition caused by the distortion was super cool/creative. I kinda want to see that used maybe in nature (like with the flowers or a forest) cause that was dope to see and I'm glad you included it.
 
I agree with Max; the video definitely got better as it went on. I think you spent too much time in your first location and some of the cuts were a little weird in this segment.

I didn't like some of the wide angle stuff. The distortion on the bus shot was pretty cool but when the lens is distorting stationary subjects like buildings, it throws me off.

I don't know if I agree with calling this video "Emptiness." To me, emptiness would be darker, slower, and certainly more empty than this video, which was fast paced, metropolitan, and light (with the music adding to the light airiness of the video). You filmed people and highlighted what seemed to be quaint towns, but they were definitely not empty. Even the fact that the buildings were modern and recently inhabited screamed 'not empty' at me. If that emptiness is what you were trying to convey, I don't know that you were all that successful. Just my two cents.

I did like the shots of CU towards the end; you had some cool cuts and I really like the sequence of shots leading up to and around the stadium; those fit together nicely. I just don't know if any of that video said "Emptiness" to me.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I definitely agree that the distortion is overused at times and the town Gold Hill in the beginning probably played for to long. As far as the title emptiness goes, I was just struggling with coming up with a name for it.
 
threads for a full critique late, but at first glance I got a busy, crowded and "full" vibe from it, not so much empty vibe. I'll do a full critique late though
