New twin tip skis / length

Hey

So I wanted to try out freestyle skiing this winter and I need to grab a pair of new skis. I have been riding about 5 years with snowboard and regular mountain skis, so I don't exactly now how to pick freestyle skis.

I m 172-174 ( don't know actually) cm and weight about 154 lbs. So do I need to grab same length skis as my regular or shorter ?

I tried to search here but didn't seem to find correct answer. So big thanks if anyone could help

The rule of thumb for skis is they should come up to somewhere in your face when you're standing up. Shorter skis are better for beginners because they allow for easier turns and are generally easier to ski on. Longer skis are better for skilled skiers because they are more stable at high speeds. For freestyle the shorter they are the faster you can spin in the air, but longer skis will help with landing from jumps and make grinding slightly easier. It also is a matter of personal preference. I would just go with the same length of all-mountain skis you ski on or maybe slightly shorter to allow for easier maneuverability. Hope this helps and +K would be appreciated if it does. Karma points by my username (I noticed your new here like me).

I'd go with something your height or longer, especially if you're still growing. When deciding on a ski, it's not just your height, but your weight too, given your weight, I'd go 174 or more

Keep in mind that on a twintip-ski you lose a little surface-area (because of the curve in the tail), so you might want to size up a little bit from your all-mountain set.
