New trick names = not core

Modern day ski trick names have become dull and flavorless. If I go into the park and someone tells me to do a 360 I feel uninspired. But if an old head with jeans and 40 underfoot skis tells me to do a cinnamon roll that leaves me with a warm feeling coming from the soul. I would much rather have someone compliment me for a backward aerial flip. Or my hotdoggin through the moguls than any other trick I have.

I'm surprised only Kangaroo Flip stuck around because there used to be all kinds of weird names for doubles.

That’s fair I’m going back to calling 360s helicopters.

Helicopters > 360s

My dad's goal when he was a kid was to learn one and he never did so I made sure it was my first trick I learned

Underflips should be called whiskey flips, I don't know what the original trick a whiskey flip describes is but I've been just sayin whiskey flip for undies cuz I like the way it sounds. Flat 3 should be called half-kang. Lincoln Loop is a fire name. Rodeo is pretty cool as well. Cork/wobble both suck but I don't have better alternatives. I'm pretty sure dub bio is called orbital, which if true if pretty cool, not sure where I got that from tho.

Side note, why the fuck is every rail combo named after a celebrity? Literally all those names suck, I just learned them this year. "Ray Charles", "Ellen", "Britney", etc, I didn't know people actually said these things.

Whiskey flip is the original name for a dub flair, I think it was named by Peter Olenick who was the first guy to dub in pipe.

Tyler Barnes (I think) named the kfed because it looks like a dance move and Kevin Federline (nickname K-Fed) was the most famous dancer at the time (more for being Britney Spears’ husband than for his dancing). And a Britney, originally Britney’s Bitch is another reference to Kevin Federline. The other celebrity names are just a continuation of this. Ellen is an Ellen Degenres cause you have to scissor a lot to do one (2000s humour sucks) and a Ray Charles is called that because it’s completely blind.

Ok so I wasn't totally off with calling them that, I mean flares are just pipe underflips.

Yeah the rail combos all make sense I just hate the fact that they are celebrity names instead of literally anything else. I feel like calling something "Tahoe" would be sick, what tricks were invented at any of the mountains there?

Lincoln loop is the best trick name in skiing, period.

I think orbital refers to the weird rotation Henrik does his triple 12/14 mute with, set like a switch bio but rotates like a cork and barely off axis.

That’s the only one I kinda like especially cuz it makes sense but I will be a cold dead man before I say “I’m gonna try an Ellen on that rail”

Os truck driver a trick or just a grab?? In bmx pretty sure its spinning a 3 one way and barspining the other so idk how that transitions lol

grabs seem to have cool names aside from safety lol

Let's not forget about this roundtable of intelligence and Steve's thoughts on Bow & Arrow grabs:

front swap front 2 = ellen (stupid name no one uses much)

front swap back 2 = k fed

back swap front 2 = britney

back swap back 2 = ray charles

k fed is really the only one people use on much of a regular basis though

I was always under the impression that front swap front 2 is britney, but never heard a name for back swap front 2. interesting

yeah it's easy to remember cause it's the opposite of a k fed (and that's the only reason it got named that anyway [and really isn't used much])

Yeah, it was really lame when the untalented swerve jackasses tried to re-name tricks to make their mediocre skiing seem better, like calling nollies peanut butters.

FUCK YOUUUUUUUUU
