New training out there

just trying to spread the word - an online zoom class that gets you creating routes and evaluating the terrain, instead of watching someone else do it on a webinar.

check it out @ backcountrynav.com

Have you done this yourself? Just wondering if you'd advise waiting until after a formal in-person class to take this or if it's beneficial before as well. Got a class coming up early February and would like to take this course as well, but will hold off on this if it'll be more effective after my class.

best if taken after an avy 1. very useful for anyone who has had a lot of backcountry days or is about to take an avy 2

I teach the classes - if you have some backcountry experience and savvy on maps, the class will skyrocket your ability to understand the content of your rec class. What I am teaching is designed to supplement what is being taught in the rec 1 & 2's. Overall, I have noticed the best results from students who take it soon after their rec class.
