Hey guys, just joined the site, its awesome.alright so ive been skiing for 15 years, most of my life. Im a racer and have loads of natural talent as a skier, my dad used to be pro. recently ive been trying out the park and decided i want to get some twins and try freestyle. I know absolutely nothing about freestyle skiing or the required gear. If you guys could give me some tips on starting out, buying skis, bindings, etc, that would be great. Price doesnt really matter, but ideally i would like to start off with some cheaper equipment until i decide whether or not i will continue to work on more advanced freestyle skiing. So any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

From what i've heard the Line anthems are pretty much beast in the park. They're really soft, though so i don't know how you'd like them after having been a racer.....

i like soft skis, my dad is an atomic rep so i ski on their full line, and they have some softer ones. I dont really care how my skis handle for free skiing, i just want something that will perform well in the park.
what have you guys heard about the armada AR6?

also, i am about 6 feet tall, what would be a good length? im not sure how park skis differ from race skis regarding length...

You want something about your height for park at your level. Armada makes fantastic skis and the AR6 is a pretty awesome general park ski.

ok so i'm 6 foot 1....which would be 155 cm
so i want something around a 155? would the 168 anthem be too long?

my mistake. alright so im looking at the armada ar6. i would be best off with the 181 model, right?can anyone compare the armada t hall to the ar6? both look awesome and im wondering how the differ. now how about bindings...what are the best makes and models?

ive been skiing them my whole life, im looking to try something new. and i would just assume that a company like line or armada is going to make better freestyle skis than a race company like atomic would

not really. i would say that out of those 3 companies atomic would be the best [imo]. atomic has a legit waranty, great durability, and have some nice soft and playful skis. personally i would stick with atomics.

possibly, im not sure if we get deals on skis that arent race skis. ill check it out...thanks for the advice guys

AR6s are very good, as are Chronics and Anthems. I'd say anthems are more rail/ jib while the Chronics are better for jumps. If you really want just cheap skis to try out freestyle, go for some Atomics from your dad. As for bindings, the Look px12 jib TI is good (they TI stands for titanium, the heelpeice is stronger), Marker Jester/Griffons are always good, same with the Salomon STH 12/ 14/ 16 .

haha, i've heard of em before, yeah really sick, would be a good choice, but if you dad is a rep for atomic ambye you should get something from atomic's lineup

yeah i think im going to get some atomics this season if possible and pick up some armadas or lines at the end of season sales that lots of stores have.
right now im skiing on atomic race boots, is that gonna be a problem?
