New skrillex EP

dude no, Sonny Moore is like an open sore on the music industry and just changes his name to perform in whatever genre is "in" at the moment. don't support that shit.

Hmmmm, I agree with both of the people above me.

I'M SO CONFUSEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD...

But I'm gonna download it anyway because I support deadmau5. :D

Um yes, I know that.

I'm saying I agree with what they both said about him.

A. That he changed his name and is now doing what's "cool"

and

B. That though he did that I still like his stuff...

Why should we punish someone who wants to express themselves by making lots of music for our enjoyment? regardless of the genre. thats what musical freedom is.

my 2 cents, think what you like... his music is bangin.

he makes music for money, not for the enjoyment. thats why he plays in a completely different genre every two years. musicians like him just leech off the current "in" genre until its dry and then move on. that's why the artist being discussed played screamo four years ago, ambient indy two years ago, and dubstep now. its not 'artistic evolution', its selling yourself out for a paycheck.

The same way everyone's clothes styles change to fit the current trends and their current age group? I use to snowboard and now I ski, not because it's "cool" or "trendy" but because I found something new that I loved.

I will admit it's a big change, and it's kind of odd to see the direction he's going in... but after downloading his new EP I can honestly say his songs are bangin. There aren't many people that can find success in that many genre's, and for that I applaud him.

I feel like what your saying is when a band's music goes out of style they are just supposed to let themselves go bankrupt and/or stop doing what they're passionate about. I don't by any means think he's doing this for money. He probably would have made more working at McDonalds the last few years.

This should not make dubstep:

That said, his shit is pretty nuts for clubstep.

if you want to compare it to clothes style changes, musicians should evolve like a single brands seasonal evolution, what you are saying is like saying that next f/w dior homme will look like FuBu. that will never happen. A brands styling evolves gradually to keep with market trends but maintain their signature style. when a brand just up and switches their look completely, like my aforementioned Dior/Fubu example, thats called selling out, which is what skrillex/sonny moore is doing. you make that change to make skrill, not because you're doing it for the music.

I am saying musicians should evolve and adapt, not change fucking genres completely just because they didn't get rich/famous enough in their original genre. especially if the genres are shit like screamo and dubstep, which are both easily described as musical fads that blow up then disappear a few years later.

this.

if people enjoy it they will buy it and he will make a living. very few electronic musicians are rich.... even the mau5 himself said he makes a surprisingly low amount of money..... it costs a lot in gear to make good music and promote, etc, etc.

I hate it when people say that other people shouldn't make dubstep..... like its some kind of godly music that only certain people should make?! get over it..... its music. if I like it, I will listen to it. and skiing to this EP will be epic this season.

I'm a house head from the mid-90's and i dont complain when avid house musicians make other type of music, or if caspa made a house track thats good i would still buy and listen to it.

Skrillex also made his first EP (my name is skrillex) free on his myspace page. big ups for that!

hahaha. wonder if thats the first time someone has dropped karma because someone told them NOT to steal something.... awesome :)

I guess I'm "not cool" because I dont want people to steal someones hard work. Good thing people cant upload my clothes to the web for download!

I honestly could give a shit, and i don't fuck with the karma system so that was somebody else. As for the music, I buy albums from groups I like. Skrillex is an average DJ, not worth $13 in any way. I also don't want to pay 13 bucks for just MP3s, they can get lost and its just a pain in the ass. When I buy music I like the hard copy as well.

I will not be purchasing this album.
