New skis on Kickstarter

TemplarSkis

I wanted to let everyone know I have built and designed some new skis - I would love your feedback - Just as an intro, I have been working on this for the last 2 years, and some of the modeling technology I applied was invented in the manufacturing of a medical device - I decided to use it in the design process of my skis. They are a bamboo / poplar / paulowina core and carbon fiber setup. We modeled the entire setup and tweaked the design and cores until we got our current prototypes.

I have launched a Kickstarter campaign with tons of info on them http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/659993807/templar-skis

I will try to answer any questions you guys may have I really want to be open about the whole project; so if you have any questions or comments they will be super welcomed, even the silly ones (I am a telemarker so I do get quite a few of those regardless).

nice colors and a ledgend dairy 1 year warrunty is all sweet n stuffbut

in the carbon fibered ski market

weight and $$$$$$

are the key questions that i aint seein answers for

Thanks for the props! the graphics have definitely been a huge amount of work on our end - And the guarantee is really there to make sure if anyone busts a pair ( and I mean in anyway) we want to analyse it, understand what we can change or how to improve. We have done tons of lab testing and plenty of on snow testing but we are a small crew so we want early adopters to give us feedback on these babies!

As for the weight and cost well if we get the last bit of funding we will be able to knock a big chunk of the future price so you could get carbon skis for say fiberglass prices ( that has to do with the resins we sourced and the layup process). - the weights quoted are inflated from our last prototype run (heavy) - we wanted to be on the safe side and our weights are definitely within 300g of some of the lightest skis out there but if you factor our core and how much performance you get out of it - it may be worth the little weight especially if you are an aggressive skier.

For anyone interested you can still snap up a pair ( with shipping included worldwide) for $500 CAD that is that is $485 US, for a carbon ski - (and a good looking one at that!).

Cheers!

Yeah we were struggling with our mathematical model of how the wood was reacting and we found that by using the 3 wood it provided more stability in the model with more predictable flex patterns.

Looks very interesting, this might be a dumb question, but are these skis twins? I can see the The Noble skiing being a very interesting park / all mountain type ski if so. Graphics look great, hope you succeed!

Thanks! i hope we make it too, I would love to see the new tech used more!

I just posted all the specs and profile pics on the site! check them out! and spread the word! - its the only way we will make it.

Any way we could get a weighted, base to base picture to show the rocker on each model? You guys in need of any north american reps/pr people?

Hey Japanda!

We will definitely do that, I put up our CAD illustrations with and our stiffness measures, Let me know exactly what you would like to see ill make sure to cover every angle!

As for reps for sure! - we have none at the moment as we are just showcasing the new technology!
