New skis, bindings, poles for friend

I have a friend in Northern Arizona who wants to start skiing but doesnt want to pay alot. He is a beginner but he can pick any sport up really fast.
He is 5'8" 155lbs and I was wondering what size ski he needs and etc. Also he wants a park ski, so center mounted.
Any suggestions?
