New skies what to choose?

Hi NS.

Im going to get some new skies soon but i dont really know which ones to choose and what im really looking for. But i have been looking at Salomons NFX Lab ski and the Atomic infamous.

And i would like the rossignol fks 18 binding on them.

I have been skiing for quite a while both in US and Europe. And my skill level is like 720's and K-feds and similar.. I want the ski to be used for a few weeks a year, all around the mountain but mostly in the park, i ride jumps and rails..

And then im wondering about the DIN setting and the length of the skis. IM 172 cm and 75 kg.

What u guys think?

at that height and pro trick level (obviously) you should put your din around17-18, got for around a 190 ski, something powder like the SFB by line

If you need to ask at what to set your DIN to then its probably higher than what it needs to be. For the information you gave maybe a 6-8.5 which is a pretty big range range. As for ski's I'd recommend the infamous over NFX Lab but I don't know what you're looking for. You need to know what you're looking for before you can ask for a recommendation for what you want. "I don't know what I'm looking for" could get a huge range of answers. What's your style of skiing like, where, softness of ski you'd like, etc.

Just go to any shop, tell them your riding style and ability height weight etc. and they will set them for you

Yeah and that way you support your local shop which is the way to go

My DIN setting has been 10 so far.. but i think that i wouldn't mind it being a bit higher...

Im not sure what riding style i have, stiff or soft skis, i haven't tried that many skies to have a preference...

I mostly do Rails and smaller jumps, playing around a bit - not huge dobbelcorks or anything like that, but i dont think i want it to be to fluffy either.. a playfull ski, that can perform and react when i want it to.

When you say 720's and k-feds, how hard do you ride all mountain? How big are the jumps you're going off of? What makes you think it could be higher, do you prerelease?

Oh smaller jumps, well I don't know as I like last years Icelantic Da Nollies. They hold up on jumps and are fun on rails

Dude you need to stop. If you are this clueless your din doesn't need to be anywhere near ten. Your bindings are supposed to PPP off when you fall. You can crank them I you want but just remember I told you so when you tear your acl

The only reason to crank you DIN is if you're prereleasing. At 165lb, 18 DIN bindings are way overkill for any application other than racing.

Im not clueless about the DIN settings, im just making sure that im getting it right.

And i also feel its different from binding to binding how fast they release even on the same setting. But sure the 18 DIN binding is a bit overkill, but im just loving the design and the color, and the place im getting the skis dont have the FKS 14... I will probably go with 9 1/2 or 10, but when the binding is from 8-18 im just wondering if there is any problem in being close to the lower border of the DIN area?

You sound like the kind of kid who has super wide feet and buys dalbellos and backs it up by saying they are swag. Just write 3+ as your skier type when you get it mounted and give that a shot. If you prerelease then you can bump it up a little. Id the place your going has fks 18 they should be able to order a fks 14 from Rossi. Honestly you would be fine with an fks 12

Get the infamous if you wanna have to send them in for warranty in 3 weeks. But id also never get a salomon park ski soo ya
