New NS logo?

I'm really new to NS, but I've noticed quite a few members complaining about the logo. (People that prefer the old one as well as people who don't like either.)
I basically just had the idea that a competition could be held to design a new logo. All the whizzes over in the Media & Arts forum would probably jump at the opportunity.
It could be decided by a site-wide vote or judge panel or whatever.
Is this never going to happen or does the idea have potential?

I think its a great idea. i really hate the new logo and the reason behind why its used.

And what is this reason you speak of? I didn't like the new logo at first, but it's grown on me. I think it looks a lot cleaner and more professional than the previous.

so that it is a more recognizable N & S to increase traffic on the site and brand recognition. If you didnt know what to look for the old logo was kind of a mystery which is what made it cool.

The new logo is so blah. Anyone without any artistic ability or vision could have made it. The old logo was gold

The lines of the new logo are terrible. One side is a straight line and the other side is super curvy. It just doesnt flow. It looks like a stupid elephant head with a stupid long trunk and it stanks and i hate it

Yeah as Chris said, we're not going to be changing the logo anytime soon. One day the time may come and we'll gladly take suggestions, but for now I think its by far the best idea to stick with what we've got.

crowdsourcing logos leads to bad designs and cheapening of the process. The current logo is great. The only reason people complained is because it was different.
