New MMO: Rift

BF 3 teaser just came out. No gameplay but they are bringing back jets, and the ability to go prone. And on PC the battles are 32 on 32, lookin way sick. I bet BFBC2 will still be a better game than the next 2 or 3 COD games. EA is officially announcing release detains early March./threadjack

Holy fucking shit. Hoping that BF 3 will be for other platforms. But I understand it being PC only if it is. Gotta keep the tradition. I think I am gonna get the BFBC2: Vietnam add-on this weekend. It looks fucking sweet.

get it dude, it's fucking nasty. my friends and i havent played black cops since it came out, and i like black cops a lot

but wait BF3 might only be for PC? that blows

It's for 360 and PS3 as well, just doubting they will have 32 on 32 for consoles, but if they did I'd pay $75 for the game. It's the only game I'd ever bother pre-ordering and paying full retail for.
I just bought vietnam and I'm not much for the old style guns but it was pretty cool.

i kinda like how there is no prone in bfbc2. once bf3 comes out i think they are gonna stop updating or coming out with new maps for bc2. i have vietnam, its not bad. i still think old bf vietnam on the 1942 engine was the best. maps were bigger and cooler and you could play music in the vehicles/helis and people could hear it.

nah like, you have a selection of songs to pick. you could pick the kinks, or wagner- flight of the valkryies, fortunate son, etc.

well you can change through the channels with dpad left and they have flight of the valkyries (dope to rape to while gunning from the chopper) and fortunate son and stuff, i think they claimed 60 songs, plus the loading screen songs are original and good

i havent played the old vietnam, just saying the new one is siick

yeah shit's sick. first time i played the game my buddy picked me up in a huey and me and another friend raped with the machine guns while he piloted to flight of the valkyries. shit was so cash

yea its fun. i like how the helis can take damage from normal guns. in bc2, unless you hit the pilot, small arms ain't doing shit!

BFBC2: Vietnam is defiantly worth getting. New maps which kick ass and a few new weapons which are always a good addition.

yeahh dude, that shit is so fun. i think they got a nice balance-- you can take down choppers with normal guns, but it's not to the point where the choppers are painfully fragile and not fun to fly

but the best is shooting pilots out of the chopper, especially with a pistol ("the patton")

I love how this turned into a battlefield thread.

But I wont hate because i absolutely love that game.

PC for life

i feel ya but a 300 dollar xbox that's plugged into my tv that i can play other games and movies on and stuff > an expensive computer, for me at least. and i'm a mac guy (video editor job) so i can't really just soup up my existing computer

yay for pc gaming!

for those hating on it for being expensive or having hackers,

A. Hackers get banned super fast (at least in all online games i play)

B. and why not pay $300-400 more than you normally would for your pc/mac, and have a sick gaming pc. thats what i did, and for $1500 i have a gaming pc thats 2 years old and can still run everything maxd out.

Plus you can use all the development kits, theres a lot more support, dedicated servers, Lots of mods, etc.

Why not blow money on a PC which can do everything, and run next gen games, and watch tv/movies/music etc.

My school laptop doubles as my gaming PC, and ive yet to run into any problems, and still have a great time.

And to be honest, Xboxs and PS3's are just as hackable as a PC games. Problem is, without dedicated servers, there are no serv admins to ban the hackers on those systems.

I have buddies who run aimbots, and speedhacks all day on console.

Modding is stupid (if it's used in online shooters or online play in general), if I wanted to get headshots all day I'd play against easy AI, the fun of games is the challenge of seeing if you are better than somebody else. I have a 360 and play games on that and it's alright, I've only ever owned consoles, no nice computers running windows (only macs). About a few days ago I thought about how much better a computer would be for gaming (a mouse would just murder thumbsticks), kinda want one but I'm not gonna lay down close to that much for video games. Hell I don't even wanna pay $250 for a PS3 but I'm saving for some other shit right now, but if I play games after college which I doubt I'll have time to do, I'm definitely gonna get a sick gaming PC.

When i say modding in relations to PC gaming, I mean as in creating mods such as new maps, game modes, player models, gun models etc.

Your thinking of hacking.

People mod their xboxs to hack

PC people mod the game for new content

Got into the Rift beta for this weekend but I have way too much schoolwork to do so I won't be able to play it unfortunately.

Word, wasn't sure on terminology, had hacking and changed it. Modding, then, is another reason I'd go for a PC. The modding communities are great, I've seen some sick mods for games like Elder Scrolls series, Diablo, anything blizzard makes really, and CS has had some epic mods (used to play at a friends place sometimes, CS is good times).
