New Kung Fujas question?

Hye guys, I was wondering if anyone got to demo the new Kung fujas and how they compared to last years. I got a pair of last years and love them! Wondering about next years for an all mountain ski. I know the rocker up front is bigger and the waist is up to a 102 so I'm thinking they are a more pow ski now but want to hear from someone who actually rode them and what they think. Did they perform well like last years?

in my opinion, they do not feel anything like the 2009/2010 Kung Fujas. This years ski is a park ski that has an all-mountain flavor to it. Next years Fujas felt like an all mountain ski that could charge pretty hard when needed. It felt more like a replacement to this years Obsethed rather than an updated Fujas. The only thing that is similar is the name and i think it is going to throw off a lot of people next year.

Can't agree with that statement anymore. With the Obsethed becoming the Hellbent lite and the Kung Fujas becoming the new incarnation of the Obsethed, I cant say anything from K2s lineup really wow'ed me. I hope getting more than 2 runs on will change my opinion, but I'm less than pleased with the way things shaped up. The current Kung Fujas is one of my favorite skis, perfect blend for everything i enjoy doing, and I'm certainly gonna miss it.

so basically the fujas is the new obsethed ski and obsethed are mini bents now....... i live in michigan so maybe new fujas are a bit much for me 95 waist was pushing it 102 with earier rise is gonna be overkill I think......

thats not necessarily true. i ski new hampshire so ice and hard pack are what we got all but 3 days a year and i got a buddy who only rides hell bents. i wouldnt cross them off your list till youve tried them they might surprise you...

I think the new Fujas will be a killer ski (in general), just WAY different than what it is now. I think it will be a good contender against the Salomon Shogun or Atomic Access, but not as a park/all mountain ski.

yeah and unfortunately thats what I wanted the skis for..... park/all mountain...... I'm thinking pretty hard on this one.

Perceptions change, remember when 95mm was HUGE? Now people think that is a park ski. Funny stuff. That was a fat ski 6 years ago.
You can ski a wider waist and have it swivel quickly and be super versatile when you have more tip and tail rocker like we added on the new Kung Fujas.

a little birdie told me that the tails are way softer next year also. and yeah becoming less of a park ski and more an all mountain ski that can be brought in the park

I really like the feedback on this forum. It's giving me so much to think about and I really want to try a pair out but I have no idea where to in Michigan. I heard the tails are soft but that would be okay in a rockered ski

So if the Obsethed are evolving into the new bents and the Kung Fujas is evolving into the new Obsethed, then what will fill the all mountain role, Kung Fujas will be to wide for all mountain and there is a rather large gap between the Fujas(102) and Extreme (85)?, i feel as though mabye they should bump the obsethed up and create a brand new model because this gap is gonna be a let down for some

all of their park skis are decently wide, 90ish, and they also have rocker. they made the new silencer like the old extreme

so whats the stiffness like? more tip and tail rocker is good news to me, is it equal rocker nose and tail?
ive skiied the first and second year fujas and the first year seemed stiffer but still pretty dang buttery. this years seemed a bit softer id say i liked both about the same. so which are they more similar to?
i want a rockered wide park ski, for almost all park, and messing around all over the place. basically just a fuck around ski, and wide makes them more fun. u think that would be better than the new obsethed or something else?
the original maiden ak's slightly softer, and with a little bit less rocker than the hellbents would be my dream ski.

I've ordered a pair of 189s for next year. I was looking for a ski with a little tip/tail rocker, 95-105mm underfoot, and longer than a 185. I'm going to mount Dukes on them and use it as a slackcountry ski.

The only thing i'm concerned about is the flex. I'm worried they will be too soft for me.

And I don't ski any park.

follow-up question for schmies- if this comes close to replacing the current obsethed in its category, than what's seth's pro model next year?I have moment bibby's because nothing in K2's line quite matches it. early rise, not like hellbent-esque rocker, and 115 underfoot versus the narrower obsethed. good lord, this sport has become so specialized

They flex nothing like the old Obsethed. Obsethed is fairly grunty throughout its length, the Fujas is so different. The tip and tail are very soft/buttery but underfoot they have a reasonable amount of grunt. They're also a lot springier than the Obsethed.

Next years Seth Pro model is... drumroll please... still the Obsethed. It's just wider and has powder rocker in the tip. 117mm underfoot.

haha, remember the seth pistols? with the british flag and those punk rockers? they were a hefty 95 mm's back in the day. k2's got the right idea with tip and tail rivets too

I got to ski them at Winter Park right after SIA...and if anyone else was there then they will know how icy it was... They skied surprisingly well... considering the conditions. fun and playful, and held an edge for as wide as they were. by no means though would i buy this ski if I were not skiing powder at least 1/2 the time...crud another 1/4 and park a 1/4.

I would like to use a pair of kung fujas for all-mounatin use. I never go intot te park. wich model (year) will suite me best.

nobody?

I’m afraid of the fujas new 102mm waist, i think 95mm suit me much better for the time being on piste. I also heard the fujas are very soft in the tail and no good for crud.....

I have last years model with the 95 waist and they go any where and handle anything! They are by far the best year for the Fujas in my opinion.

I have this years in a 189 and it is perfect for me. I ski 60/40 all mountain to park and ski everything when i ski all mountain ( trees steeps powder moguls, you name it) and they are the perfect stiffness. stiff enough so when you land back seat or are carving hard they dont butter out and soft enough to mess around.

I just got a pair, and the bigger rocker makes a huge difference for powder. They're a really light ski too and they're pretty good for park as well. Great all mountain ski, and I think a little more control than last years version which I demoed

Ok, so heres the deal, i have never ridden the old kung fujas, but i got the new one. The new ones are suuuuper soft skis in the tip and tail, but they are stiff a hell underfoot. To ski powder with these skis is just a dream come true! But on the other hand to ski park with them is a nightmeare come ture, since they are sooooo increaebly heavy! Its craaazzy how hard it is to do a 360 on these cause of thiere weight! The skis are suuuuper fast on the groomers though! Awsome fun to just carve on the piste with them, but the tips do wobble around, but no biggie. One downfall of these skis is the durability, its the small things that add up. These skis have white bases which means that they get dirty really quick(when you have a scratch and you petax it out, you see the scratch more than before). Also the top sheet of the skis is a very soft plastic, which results in having bits of pices ripping of easily when you bang you skis together. On the k2 website it says this skis is 50% park and 50% powder, but in my opinion its more like 70% and 30% park.
But all in all supper awesome kick ass ski, wouldn't wanna have a different one !!!
Hope this helps,
PEACE!

i just rode these for my first time last week, its my park ski. though my ideal park day, ill ski park all day, with maybe an hour or so spent jibbing around some BC features. these skis are awesome in the park, they are heavy, it didnt bother me, i like the weight, if your not spinning 10's on 30 footers and triple switch ups on a 10 ft. box i dont feel like it will hold you up. it really depends on your skiing style, if you like to get as techy as possible, get something super skinny and light. if you like to surf around the park, more relaxed and floaty, these skis are ideal. 270's onto flat rails/boxes are easy unless its maybe an urban style rail. on medium-large jumps spinning 5's 7's and 9's wouldnt take any real effort. your just going to feel the ski beneath you. they feel AWESOME on slower spins. the weight is a big advantage for that area.
the flex is awesome, super buttery and poppy. the stiffness underfoot and the width makes it super stable on big jump landings. but you can do some huge long butters if you want. and they ski awesome switch.
the coolest part is when you go from skiing park, where these skis kill it, to skiing pow, chopped up snow, or BC. and they perform better than most normal camber 100% pow skis. they are super lively, you can hop around in soft snow, and they are the perfect blend of soft/stiff in the right areas. i hit a 30ish foot cliff into chopped up bumpy soft snow, right into a big compression, and they stuck it like a big mountain ski. the softness of the tips keeps them above the snow while the stiffness underfoot gives you stability.
the width is perfect. while i like a heavyish park ski, these skis could be a little lighter. if i were to recommend a similar ski, id look very seriously at the domains if you want something more park oriented and your a more techy skier. or the bacons if you want something a little more all mountain oriented. after feeling the bacons, they seem pretty similar in flex, and about the same weight. they would kill it in the park just as well, only thing is i could see the width making them a little clumsy for an all park ski. but if it werent for the fujas, i would have definitely gotten bacons.

So the 102mm over the 95 waist will be no problem for eastcoast sking (hardpack ice). Quick enough to charge&carve on the groomers?
