New iOS-app for skiing

In a few weeks we are launching a free app called Trickbook.

It is a beautifully designed application, which serves as log book and reference for all tricks on skis. That means you can tick off rail and jump tricks as you learn them, to track of your progression.

Right now we want to research the market to see how we can improve the product, and this is where we need your help.

Please write which features you would want to see, and we will be very grateful.

If you explained how to do each trick, and had a video, your app would have hundreds of thousands of downloads.

But since that most likely isn't going to happen, just have a picture/video and description of each trick and grab.

Try to have tutorials for basic tricks. (Like slide rail, sccisor on rail for spins, etc.)

Sounds cool I'll for sure download it.

It would be pretty easy (take some time, but the coding is straight-forward) to add description for every trick. Only text though, that would fit best with the design, and avoid copyright problems.

Thank you for your feedback! Everything is really appreciated.

if history has shown us anything, it's that it is practically impossible to clearly explain a misty, rodeo, and cork with text.

sounds like a good idea, whats it gona cost, and think its gona be really hard to explain to hot do stuff like rodeos and corks as slightly different for everything, think having a check list you could almost tick tricks off when u have done them would be good

It was not primarily meant as a how-to app, but more like check list thing you are mentioning.

For everyone talking about grabs:

The list will most likely be like this:

(...)

540

Unnatural 540

Switch 540

Unnatural Switch 540

720

(...)

You can then tick off ex. 540, but you can also press on a ">" to the far right and find:

540 Safety

540 Leading safety

540 Mute

540 Leading mute

540 Tail

540 Leading tail

(...)

These can also all be ticked off individually.

I hope this answers your questions.

If you somehow incorporated a 3d representation of each trick which you could rotate, zoom, and control the speed of, that would be incredible. Along with a text description and an audio-video description of each trick and you'd have an app I would pay some good money for. Also, having multiple explanations of things helps. Sometimes people don't quite understand what you mean.Instructions on how to progress up to a trick is extremely helpful. For example, to progress up to a flatspin, you would first get backflips down and then slowly tuning them so that they are off axis. Maybe add a recommended checklist that one would go through which all help progress up to a certain trick, such as before attempting a nose butter triple cork, make sure you can nose butter double cork. And under nose butter double cork, it would recommend getting nose butter corks first, and before that corks, etc etc.

There are so many ways you could add little details to this as well, but that's up to you. The more you do so, the more likely someone will buy this app.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your ideas!

The 3d representation is definetely not going to happen, I'm gonna let someone else do that, that would take endless amount of work to do.

The instructions on tricks I see everyone is really interested in, so I will definetely add that in. Furthermore your idea about the progression towards tricks is great. I will add that as well.

Once again, thank you :-).

The market is minuscule for an app like this. I wouldn't use it and I ski park pretty often. I know what tricks I can and cannot do. Why do I need an app that reminds me of this.

It's a pointless app for a tiny tiny tiny market.

Look how well Ski Dice went. NOT.

MAYBE 1000 people would get this if was free. Drop that number to like 100 if it's a buck.

Might be a decent app for the skate market, but I don't see the economics in the NS market.

Nice! I've been waiting for something like this! But why not call it tricktionary!? Although that name could already be taken by the berrics idk.

Nope. I decided to take it ten steps further and include even more social features, which requires a lot more time to develop. I hope to be ready for the 13/14 season!

i think the most useful things could be a grab section and rail section. the grab section would be a description of what the grab is and maybe a picture. and the rail section could have descriptions of all the different rail variations. i'd download it!

You should make it so you can make a username and add friends and look at their progression. Just a thought

Amazing idea!

It would be cool if you made it so that you can upload a video yourself to the tricks. So when you accomplish a trick and has it on video, you can upload your own tricks. or simply other people doing them, so you can see how it's done!

This is a good idea - I was going to suggest something like this. Badges you could share via social media once you achieve certain levels so other people can view your progress, that kind of thing. It would definitely contribute towards 'gamifying' the app, which would make it a lot more fun to use. It's not an app that I would personally use, but I can see it gaining some traction in younger, park-oriented segments.

I stopped working on the app this summer, because I was too busy with other projects ...

I just put a developer on the project again, and the app should be ready very soon!

i think itd be dope if you incorporated some kind of skate on snow function, like you select rails or jumps, difficulty and then have a button that will randomly select a trick fitting that category, also have a ticker so that you can keep track of who has what
