New gear lacks uniqueness

kinda like the Saga love thread, I like the nostalgic factor of old gear, but it kinda is better than the new stuff even ten plus years later

but imo not much new ski gear is as cool as stuff used to be

I'm not even talking about park stuff, but general gear the average joe wears

back in the day there was so many cool color combos and mix and match patterns that everyone would wear, nowadays everything seems to be one color, and a lot of monotone kits are what I see a majority of,

Are there any Brands out there still putting out cool stuff? everything seems so plane nowadays, yes lots of trendy brands, such as harluet, arsenic, jibskin, etc are super baggy and look sick, but they lack a lot of the unique fabric patterns and colors , and even number of pockets or adjustable straps and vents that old gear used to have.( I'm talking saga gear, simon dumonts' kit and the Oakley pro series, fd wear kits, old jiberish stuff) don't get me started on the "water resistant" shells all these brands sell, that get soaked through instantly

I've started to just buy people's old gear, as I find that it is more unique, looks cooler, and has better features than top shelf products today

anyone else in the same boat?

I wanna get one of the old north face jackets they can’t sell anymore because of the waterproofing membrane was not naturally degradable. Can’t find nun though

Arsenic is still making colorful stuff. That being said, colors aren’t as In as they used to be, just is what it is.

color blocking is a lil more attainable belt even then there is a lot of fabric on a bolt so you have to get creative if you don’t want to be wasteful.

im also a fan of the gear you are talking about. One of the vests I have planned for the upcoming season is an homage to a colorway of the jiberish ignant vest. Got a lot of love for jiberish and saga!

I love the different colored zippers and outlines

Some two toned/ multicolored big strides would be to die for

same thing happened with cars, look at a picture of a highway with traffic on it 30 years ago and you will see ever possible color known to man other than black or grey, now it’s all you see

We maxed out the all black look the past couple seasons. I wouldn’t be surprised if bright colors start to make a comeback the next couple years.

TREW Gear out of Oregon makes some funky color combos and nice gear. They are more freeride / free touring oriented than freestyle.

I just got a new fd wear jacket today, only used one season, looks brand new, and its ten years old

also came with new sleeves, yes a jacket with changeable sleeves, sick

and new with tags in og packaging beanie, face mask, and bandana

I miss early 2000’s orage man. Had this one jacket with “180 vision”.

Basically it was just a little clear plastic cut out in the hood so if u were skiing switch with ur hood up, looking over ur shoulder, ur hood wouldn’t affect the vision by covering ur goggles.

such a stupid gimmick but that jacket got mad bitches.

I had a matching orage kit when I was like 10 and it was fully green and blue color-blocked. Always felt so cool wearing it lmao

I've been wearing bright colours and full matching suits the past few years, just a bit less baggy than it was back in the day. It's more fun to wear crazy shit, and I get a lot more compliments on my gear now than I used to. Skiers used to have a stronger identity but these days I feel like we look way too plain. 90% of Saga after 2010 and 100% of FD was pretty corny but they had the right idea. I think that bright colours and patterns could make a come back if done right

I'm in the market for a full blue suit this winter lol

Shoulda known. This is totally gonna blow up. Do they have any cool edits of their team riders living DOPE-ly?!

everyone ive seen wearing bright / mismatched / weird pattern outfits skis like retarded jerries.

all the good skiers tend to wear monotone/neutral colors and it makes it easy to match

a few years ago I bought a g suit (yeah I know lol) and when I got it I was absolutely blown away by the decorative texture all over the entire thing. it looks SOOOOO much better in person than just a white jacket with a big red stripe. despite all the advancements in technology since then, we have nothing like that anymore. we have to bring back real artistry into this industry

guys wear leathers pre order stuff is actually pretty close to old outer wear, at least in terms of looks and pockets its seems. hopefully the quality is as good, and not another paper thin jacket and pants company with no waterproofing, like harluet, woofbiz, and other insta brands. Idk why ists so hard to make gear that looks cool, but isnt made of the most shit materials.

Been struggling to part with my old saga gear cuz nothing compares today in terms of fit and style. Also been buying up old jackets from my youth. Recently picked up a dumont pro model from Oakley the white and purple, and a wallish pro model from North face the OG red and blue. Got way too many at this point but nothing today will ever compare to the early 2000s style

just got a Oakley air raid jacket on ebay for 39 bucks shipped

its the black and red one. I am sooooo hyped rn holy crud. buddy aint know what he had, and its XL and it has only a small burn mark.

plus it was free shipping.
