New FS7 test video - From Berlin

Hey NS,

I recently got to spend a few weeks in Berlin, exploring, chilling out and learning about its colourful history. I started this vid just to test out my new FS7, but after a few days, there was so much goin on in Berlin I knew I had to make a full vid. It's nothing more than a collection of shots of places I visited and things I saw but I hope you enjoy it none the less.

What settings and version of firmware were you shooting with?

A number of the slow-mo shots looks a bit jumpy as well (For example- the shot at :44 and the next shot after it), but others looked smooth...

I was using version 1.10 but have literally just upgraded to V2.0. I was shooting in XAVC-I, S-Log3 with the slo-mo at 180fps. Shutter speed was always 180 to the frame rate so I'm not sure why some shots would have been more jumpy than others, esp since some where shot directly after one another. Maybe there was something I missed while shooting, I always checked before shooting but maybe missed it a couple times, not sure. It was pretty much my first time I could get stuck into the camera. If you have the cam, or have any tips, I'm all ears.

Yea, v1.10 had a couple issues. For being so new though, it worked remarkably well for the camera's first firmware, but v2.0 is a vast improvement.

I prefer to shoot S-LOG3.cine. One reason, to put it simply, is that it's much easier to grade than S-LOG3 and you aren't really sacrificing a lot for it. For a better idea of the difference between S-LOG3 and S-LOG.cine check out this link-

In relation to the jumpy slo-mo, it is probably something on the post production side then, instead of an issue with the camera.

Also, were you using Cine-EI or Custom mode? This should help answer some questions with that as well-

Hope that helps!

Great, thanks for the info. I've read, watched and listened to so many FS7 related stuff now, but it all helps.

I shot in custom mode. S-Log3 Cine is only in Cine-EI mode correct?

Currently, I've been comparing ungraded or minorly graded STD5 and HG8 to graded S-Log3 footage in post. Been trying the "3DLUT's for S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3" from Sony for the 709 look. Would you every use the other 2 options. I've come across Doug Jensons FS7 totorial who uses them sometimes for interviews. I have an indoor shoot with some interviews tomorrow so I'm running though my options.
