New freeskiing iOS application

Hello Newschoolers!

I am soon launching my project called 'Trickbook'!

The application will for now serve as a logbook for freeskiing tricks on both rails and jumps. I have been working very hard on this, and I will try to implement even more features in the near future.

The application will be further developed and fine-tuned in close collaboration with the Newschoolers community, so please feel free to leave a comment on the application either here, or on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/trickbooktheapp

A contest will soon be announced on Facebook, so be sure to 'like' our page.

For more information, feel free to ask any questions.

Screenshots are released on Facebook now.

I like the idea behind this, there has always been a need for something like this. One thing I will say as of now is that the App needs a new logo. What does a check mark in a box say about anything related to tricks or skiing?

Thank you for stating your opinion.

The checkmark is meant to represent checking off a trick. I thought this logo would fit nicely, but I will consider changing it. Thanks for your input :)

it looks cool, but i think you could make the app look a little better if that makes sense. It looks too plain and boring

Hey man, love the idea. This was something I was actually working on with a couple people 3yrs ago, hit a lot of snags and couldnt get it finished. I can appreciate the time and effort you've put into something like this. Building, designing and funding an app of this kind (simple as it may be) is very difficult.

If you get caught up on anything feel free to PM me and i'll see if I can help out, not saying im an expert on it but we worked on this very idea for 2yrs and wanted to finish it but its never easy since something is bound to get you hung up.

what i think would be cool for the logo is if you made the lines of the box skis and poles or something like that.

I really like this idea! i feel like it will motivate me to progress quicker as ill see all the tricks i have yet to land.

Awesome idea. Would be even more awesome if you could implement some mind control feature that controls my body in mid air and executes the trick so I can implant that shit in my muscle memory.

Unfortunately not (yet). It will take too much time and money to develop for both, and I do not have that right now. Sorry!

The app records what tricks you've done? I don't really get it.

I think most skiers know almost exactly what they have in their bag on any given day, and even more precisely the extent of what they've done in the past. I can't picture anybody continually using a checklist to prove (to what I assume is an online app community?) the tricks they've done. Filling out a self-praising checklist can be fun once, but doesn't have much staying power. If I stomp a 10 this year, I'll go brag to my dad and ski buddies about it, and probably remember that date as a damn fun one, but not check it off a list on my phone.

If you're going to invest your time in an app, make something bigger than a glorified checklist. Run with the trick tip thing. Collect videos of flat 5s from 20 different angles - show the difference between flats and mistys and rodeos and bios. Facilitate a mobile collection of recorded tricks. You have to build an intrigued userbase for your app to have longevity.

Thank you for giving me your honest opinion on the application.

I can tell you I have no coding skills, so every minute of coding is paid by me to a developer.

I have no intentions in investing thousands of dollars on a project, which is not bullet-proof to give necessary return. Therefore I am going to be developing the application one step at a time as my invested money (hopefully) returns from paid in-app upgrades.

So yes, right now the application is the MVP (Minimum Viable Product), which is all I can contribute to the community as it is today.

As I mentioned, I hope the application will become somewhat succesful, so I can add features in the future.

I hope this answers all your questions.

I don't know if you've seen the NikeSB app, but this sounds like it could go in that direction. I would suggest checking it out- could provide some ideas. Like the guys above said, the logo could use some work. Great idea to start this app and best of luck on getting this thing going!

I feel like you could just open the memo pad or download an app like Google Keep and save your tricks in there IF you really felt you might forget your capabilities and have to write them down.

Because you aren't developing for Andriod and the market for this product is pretty small as is (face it, only freeskiers who have iOS would even consider this), I doubt you will have much success, especially if you expect to make a profit from it while paying someone else to code.

But that's just my opinion.

This will be out very soon. I hope to be done by the end of the week.

A how to guide on both rail tricks and jump tricks is added now!

This could actually work out great for Videographers and Photographers as well.

I know i'll be using it as a photographer for keeping track of which shots of which tricks i got and which i still want. Just to keep the shots variated. Maybe skiers should even have the photographer look trough their trick book and that way see what he want's to shoot?

It's really such a good idea and i'm sure it'll be a lot of fun on the mountain!

I'm sorry it has taken so long, but Apple has rejected the application twice now. They say it is too simple, so we are trying for the third time to change something, so they will not reject it again.
