New format not aesthetically pleasing

I find the new format to be very random on the home page. Weak boarders and not so bold headlines make it annoying to navigate. to just find something quick takes some effort and then there are random little blocks of things like member birthdays or site updates just scattered about.

the page is way too long to. it also seems very myspace like. I would have signed up to freeskiing.com if i wanted to chat and meet up with 14 year old girls, instead of find out stuff about the ski world.
 
yeh word to that.

im really not down with it, before...there was no need to scroll, now, the page is like 8.6 billion feet long.

waaaack.

the new format seems very random. I liekd the old one. Sections were lined up better and i found the old headers and colors easier to navigate. But one question I have is does all of that have to be on the front page. I don't see why the reviews are on the front page and the entire column to the left of updates seems unneccessary (more/trailors).
 
yeah just make sure the sections are clearly marked off and headlines are clearly separated. with similar colored headlines (the white with the gradient) and similar colored text underneath it's really hard to distinguish what's what. also with not very blocky sections it seems like some stuff is just sort of jumbled about and not realyl inline with other stuff. try making it a bit more clear.
 
It's not bad, but it's only 2/3 of where it should be. It's missing something. But the use of white space is nice. try working off a wider template, maybe? I don't give a shit about people who aren't on widescreens, I am dammit!
 
One of the whole problems WAS that nobody is scrolling down. I mean there is so much more information below the first fold, we just wanted to get more info up there.

Its all about more info.

and i still think the front page is a jumbled mess. if i felt like scrolling 8000 feet to find the rater i would give it a 0,

the titles blend in and there is no pattern to the layout of each section
