New Edit of Mine...PC December. Looking for some critiques

Good afternoon all. I dont usually post edits within the forums but I figured now is a better time than ever to start ha. I made shot this edit throughout december at park city and am just looking for some critiques of it. Most of the time the video section doesnt allow for that, nor do people take the time to comment accordingly. If you'd be willing to give me some ideas or thoughts I'd be more than hyped. Thanks

You know this already, but you slayed the true follows my man. I'm way too scared to hit jumps with my glidecam.
 
I liked the edit a lot. True follows were definitely nice. I feel like that edit could have been much better though. Maybe about a minute shorter, lose the intro about handjobs, and throw in a few shots that are more dramatic in their distance from the rider. I think you've definitely got potential to make some banger edits man. Like I said I enjoyed it but seemed to focus on what I know you can improve. I guess that's what happens when you post it in M&A haha. Keep up the good work.

Just one question however The song choice, is it a remix of the same song that was used in Pretty Good? Or the other way round?
 
That being said, here is my critques

-too many additive dissolves, I know sometimes thats kind of your thing but IMO you could've done with less, kept them for the most important transitions, etc

-about 80% of your shots the composition was perfect, the other 20% you cut off some heads, cut off some feet, weird positioning, etc. But, that happens and im not trying to dog ya for it, but i know you can make that number 100%

-You definitely couldve made it a bit shorter, but thats just a style thing so dont worry about it too much

-cuts at the beginning were cool but kinda drug on, IMO again stylistic choice so dont worry about it too much

other than that, you nailed it jahwenz

Could you perhaps explain to me what you mean by more dramatic shots further from the riders? kinda confused there. Like more filler type stuff?

To the cigarette question...Kinda a prelude to an upcoming mini series we were thinking of putting out called Cig Nigs. Kinda has to do with probation issues and no ganja haha. Long story

Eheath. thanks for the advice appreciate it. the addictive dissolves were def over done. I just moved to premier which lacks some transitions I was used to with final cut so Im working on seeing what I can do there. Gotta mix it up.

To the song issue...I think its prally been used in that rage movie...I just really enjoyed it and felt that it went well. I know its a no no but kinda sent it anyhow.

I liked it, you did very well on covering multiple angles and cutting between them. My biggest issue was the titles and rider names though. It just looked way to generic and unnatural. I find this to be one of the biggest things that bug me in any edit though, there are ways you can put text in that looks good, but most of the time I would just rather watch the filming without the obstruction and then see rider credits at the end. Thats just my opinion though and I know sometimes the riders get upset if they are not identified right away, so maybe work with some more fonts, placements, and colors for the next one. Keep it up!
 
that song was mesmerizing for some reason. what was it?

and the whole edit was sick. my only complaint would be feet getting cut out of some shots

really smooth shots but I didnt feel like the song totally worked IMO. Do you have any tips to get such smooth shots with the glide cam? Overall it was pretty good and i really liked the follow cams off the jumps!
 
Wasn't this dude bald in the Salomon Summer Edit that Steve made for him?!? Damn if so he grew some serious hair.

Not bald, just moderately short hair. But jeesh that was a good 3-4 years ago honestly ha. That was back when Brad was like 14 or 15 I think.
 
Take that back, that was maybe 2 or 3 years ago, but Brad had relatively short hair until last season. He started to grow it out then it took full effect when he moved out west I think.
