Hey guys, I just finished up a new video and I was hoping for some feedback.

I filmed this edit in two days, one with a tripod and one with a glidecam. I tried to put together something a little different than my past edits. I'd love to hear what you guys think about it, especially the crop. I filmed the entire thing with crop guides planning on chopping off the top and bottom, do you guys like how that worked out?

Thanks,

Abe

Nice dude!

The crop worked great.

For improvement:

I would say work some different angles. You have all the "stock" shots covered well, and cut between them nicely, but to put it over the top, you could mix in some more creative angles and shots.

Try shooting some wider, some tight, etc. IMO, a little variety would go a long way.

I could be wrong, but past the intro I don't recall any non-skiing shots. You could try and mix in a little bit more "lifestyle" kind of stuff, to connect us back to the riders, and push that sunny t-line vibe.

Word. That was sick Abe! Really enjoyed that. Liked the color too. I would love to see more shots like 2:40. It seemed like many of the tripod shots you could have done on glide cam. I would have loved to see more tele shots that would only be supported on tripod. Maybe close ups on skis on rails or skis coming into a jump.

All around it was clean! Good work!

Wow great video dude! Huge improvement from your old stuff imo. I agree 100% what with everybody else said. I also noticed how great the audio was, so great job there man! Impressive!

I agree with getting more creative angles but I understand that when only shooting for two days this just sometimes doesn't happen. anyways great edit Abe!

I really like the shot at 2:40. And the audio on the first jump shot kinda ended abruptly but other then that. i really liked it.

i hated the 2.35 crop and don't see why it is applicable to ski edits. for short films and cinema it's alright, but i just can't see why people put it in edits that are 90% ski shots. i'm not sure if that makes sense, fuck it. HOWEVER that being said, you used it better than most people since you didn't constantly cut off heads and feet, so good job planning ahead for that.

i really liked the colours and the audio, however sometimes the audio seemed to end abruptly. also would've liked to see more tele shots, the view from timberline on a sunny day is pretty sweet to squeeze riders in to.

Liked the vid. Loving the attention to detail people are taking with audio. Makes for such a better vibe.

Reminded me of Simon's pipe edit in GB. Loved that too.

Are you using a polarizer? If not, get one.

Don't perceive this as hate, it's tough love. The colors seem like there's no color correction done whatsoever. They're really plain. Play around with the saturation, curves, and contrast a little more in looks. You might end up with a more appealing image. People will probably disagree with me but I think thats the only thing really lacking in this edit

Abe,

I must say that it was very well done. I loved the colors and the mood you put in the edit. I also must say i disagree with some of the comments saying more creative shots. i thought that your shots were very good and to the point. I think to often people get caught up in creative close ups. The simple approach you took to this video was great. The only thing i can say is make sure you dont use a song that has been already used!!!! Overal 10/10 good work. What glass where you shooting with?

Thanks,

Jacob Callaghan

All the "long lens" stuff was with a Tamron 17-50 f2.8, and all the glidecam stuff was shot with a Tokina 11-16 f2.8. Like Matt was saying above, I shot even the tripod stuff from a pretty wide angle. The jumps were tiny, and bringing out the big lens would have made them look even smaller.
