New car/suv help

ok so i want to get a new suv or car for this season and i want some help deciding what i should get ive looked at the ford edge,kia sportage, jeep commander and a fj cruiser if any one can give me a bit of help it would be a huge help. thanks oh yeah and + karma
 
Why an SUV? Just asking because you could get a wagon like a volvo, ford or subaru and have almost the same cargo space and a lot cheaper to own.

get a 4wd wagon, rides so much better and you have pretty much the same space. generally cheaper to run as well.

I bought a pathfinder this time last year and while it was good for getting up the mountain, it's not that great generally. I've done a few off road trips with it so now I'm probably going to sell it and get a wagon
 
No hate, all the SUV's you posted are sick (except I dont really like range rover) anyhow we have to keep in perspective that this is a newschooler and most likely doesn't have that kind of money. BTW is there a price range??
 
nothing screams soccer mom like that, or the Lexus RX series..

seriously, no man should drive either of the aforementioned vehicles.
 
4wd / awd they all basically do the same thing at the end of the day.

there are so many different systems of 4wd / awd that you can't just say one brands 'awd' is better than another brands '4wd'. The best thing you can do is learn how your system works so you know what to expect when the going gets rough
 
tahoe or toyota land cruiser.

although we just got a 2010 FJ trail team edition, and i like it alot actually.
 
I have a 2008 FJ Cruiser with a 6 speed and I love it. I got some snow tires for winter and the thing is a beast in the snow and slush. Plus the whole trunk area is just rubber and plastic, so it's really easy to clean if you get mud or anything back there.
 
these car threads are always so funny "20k is all I wanna spend" where the fuck did that 20g's come from? jk jk we all know. Ballin' in mommy's rig! only the cops will know when they ask for your registration. You should push for more, I mean if youre going for 20k you're already an asshole, bump it up to 45k, then you won't have to get some used POS. I mean you deserve the best right?
 
A buddy of mine had an fj and he loved it, it was pretty nice and did well in the snow. Have you thought about nissan pathfinder or an infinity qx4...I got one a couple years ago for like 5 gs and it has been awesome. It's got 4wd and handles the snow awesome, nice interior with heated seats which is crucial in the winter. It's got 218k on it now, still runs great and I have never had any problems.
 
it sounds like you are all set since your daddy is taking you shopping for a land rover.
those are unbelievably good off road and most of them look pretty nice
